This is how bitcoin gets into the conflict between Russia and Ukraine
Bitcoin joins the current conflict between Ukraine and Russia. A recent investigation detailed how Ukrainian rebel and defense groups have received donations in bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies to finance their purposes.
The research was done by cryptocurrency analysis firm Elliptic. It looks at how Ukrainian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other advocacy groups could be using bitcoin.
Among the groups monitored is Myrotvorets Center, an NGO based in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital. It has published personal information of individuals who may be considered "enemies of Ukraine" such as Russian spies and politicians, among others. He did this through facial identification software known as iDentigraf.
The curious thing about this NGO is that, originally, they received donations via PayPal. However, they accuse, according to Elliptic's investigation, that the company decided to close their account, seizing all the organization's funds.
