ATMs come to Bitcoin

With Bitcoin at all time highs and exchanges like Poloniex slowing to a halt, Bitcoin ATMs are quick way to grab some quick BTC without the need for verification.

I've used a Bitcoin ATM machine in Dubai airport on a connecting flight to Vienna. The buying process was:

  1. First check the BTC price.
  2. Scan your Bitcoin wallet.
  3. Feed your cash bills into the machine one at a time.
  4. Click withdraw.

Advantages/disadvantages:

The advantages I love about these ATM machines were:

  • Privacy and security fully assured.
  • A full cash transaction with no paper trail.
  • No hassles of slow exchanges.

I found the disadvantages of these machines were:

  • You need to visit a large international airport.
  • The larger fee added for the cash and private transaction.
  • Only micro-withdrawals were allowed.

I am constantly checking this site for Bitcoin ATMs in airports as I travel at: https://coinatmradar.com/

Here in the UK, even the small corner shops are getting in on the act now too:

They look so cool

This one was in Zen cafe in New York @yarnia2014 :)

It's definitely very cool to see Bitcoin getting more "out in public." My wife and I are working on getting our small gallery/shop to become a "Bitcoin Accepted Here" merchant... whether we get anything from it remains to be seen... what appeals to me is that it provides yet another "point of awareness" with the sticker on our front door.

"point of awareness"
These as SO essential for mainstream adoption. Without these points of awareness we all wilt and die on the vine. Best of luck with your gallery @denmarkguy God bless Bitcoin and Steem :)

My guess is it's far more likely I'll end up in conversations with people who ask "What's a Bitcoin?" and I can give a "publicity speech" than the odds that someone will actually want to buy something with Bitcoin. Every little bit helps... also thinking of creating a separate Steemit account for out store and becoming the only establishment in town to accept Steem!

After explaining Bitcoin then you've gotta explain the rest of the rabbit hole like Steem, Dash, Ethereum etc. OUCH!!

I used my first BTC machine last week in Nashville. It was an interesting process, to say the least. BTC confirmations were moving super slow that day and it was $5 for an $80 withdrawal! However, I was very thankful I had a BTC machine to use as that was the trip my Bank Account was hacked, I believe, by running my card through a scanner at a gas station!

I found the process very impersonal. A very strange experience compared to an exchange. I hope your card thing gets fixed OK @lexikon082 :)

@mrssignificant36 quelques exemples d'utilisation.

Tres bien @lajulius :) Merci!

We have Bitcoin ATMs in Hong Kong but not at the airport. it is still a niche market. You can them here http://hkbitcoinatm.com/

Cool. Thanks for the HK update @marcusxman :)

Love to see a video of you using this machine :) ... [vid hint hint! Hee-hee!]
