If there is something we have learned from the recent history of the Internet, seemingly esoteric decisions about software architecture can unleash deep global forces after technology roaming. If we used public-private key cryptography as the default setting in the 1970's accepted e-mail standards, we could avoid all the freaking email attacks that annoyed John Podesta from Sony, and millions of ordinary consumers could be deprived of routine identity theft.
Cryptos are gonna make a lot of people rich. That's for sure.
