Steve Wozniak: Bitcoin is 'the only digital gold'
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak said that 'only Bitcoin is pure digital gold' in an interview on June 4, reaffirming his belief in cryptocurrency, although he sold most of his assets.
Speaking to CNBC at the ongoing Money20 / 20 conference in Amsterdam, the seasoned developer said he 'accepted' comments from Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey about Bitcoin becoming the 'single currency' of Internet and the world. Dorsey spoke twice at events in March and May, during which he predicted that Bitcoin would become the international currency of choice by 2028.
'I appreciate what Jack Dorsey says, not that I I think it's going to happen, but because I want it to be like that, it's such a pure thought, 'said Wozniak.
Wozniak repeated that he was 'not an investor', having originally purchased $ 700 Bitcoin to experiment with its use as a means of payment. 'I have a Bitcoin and two Ether,' he told CNBC. Nevertheless, for Wozniak, Bitcoin represents a distinct class of cryptographic asset compared to all others:
'Only Bitcoin is pure digital gold ... and I totally accept it. All others tend to abandon some aspects of Bitcoin. For example, being totally decentralized and not having central control. This is the first thing they have to give up to try to have a business model. '
As prices of Bitcoin and large Altcoins remain stuck in June, Bitcoin has lost about 20% last month, some sources say that current conditions present a good opportunity for buyers.
