I personally think Coinbase is great, so good call there. You already made a great choice by joining Steemit wherein you can participate in a growing community and earn a popular cyptocurrency while doing it. If you want to trade some other altcoins, I recommend Bittrex.

Yes, I am familiar with the forex market. My take on it is it has all the intricacies of trading cryptos but with the downside that it is all government backed fiat currency - a big downside from my perspective. Is it something you are into? Trading national currencies?
