Bitshares - State of the Network - 20th March 2018
The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.
Observation from this week
This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.
In the interests of transparency and to provide greater visibility in relation to Committee proposals/decisions, the Committee has launched a new website committee.bitshares.works. The website is provided by the BBF to serve as the central hub of Committee related information. Find the new website HERE and further information HERE
As of Saturday, March 17th 2018, the transaction fees on BitShares have been increased by the BitShares Committee. Due to the decrease of the unit price of BTS, an increase of the fees was required to align with the agreed upon USD values. After discussions, the BitShares committee created a proposal (1.10.8736) to actually increase the transaction fees which was quickly approved by the majority of committee members. You can find more details and the fee schedule HERE
Super.one is a new Bitshares mobile wallet released this week, created by @crazybit--a witness of Bitshares. Super.one is still in public test phase at the moment but you can create your new bitshares account for free now, or import your backup wallet with brain key. New users will be rewarded 100 SOT asset, SOT is the token of product SuperONE, the value-added services provided by SuperONE would be charged in SOT in the future, for more information visit the website at SuperONE.io or join the discussion HERE. I personally recommend while this new wallet is in testing phase it would be good to test with a new account instead of importing your existing account; this wallet looks very professional so hopefully we will see a production release soon.
This week has seen the amount of accounts holding BTS in wallets outside of centralized exchanges grow to over 100,000 accounts.
The Bitshares Blockchain Foundation (@bitshares.fdn) has announced that it has acquired ownership of BitSharesTalk.org from Bitsapphire and will gladly continue to provide the forums as a platform for communications to the entire community. You can see the full announcement HERE
@bitspark has released a post that outlines why it feels Bitshares is the best platform for their remittance business and the entire Zephyr project. The post outline 3 critical elements of Bitshares that matter most to Bitspark and Zephyr; Speed, Decentralization and Pegged Cryptocurrencies / smartcoin. You can read the full article HERE
Three new committee proposals are being voted on this week which could have major benefits for the Bitshares ecosystem if they can be executed successfully. There is currently a proposal raised by Bitcrab to use funding from the reserve pool for open market operation on the USD and CNY smartcoins; this is designed in increase liquidity in the markets. A second proposal is attempting to test the mechanics of the first proposal with a small amount of funds held by the committee account as a proof of concept and the third proposal is to claim the BitCNY generated from fee's on the BitCNY market. You can find all the proposals on committee.bitshares.works
