Venezuela Set to Introduce Country Cryptocurrency on February 20, 2018

The new cryptocurrency Petro coin will be backed by Venezuela's oil stock, at $60/per barrel.

If you haven't been following the news in Venezuela, the country is in a serious financial crisis. Banks cannot keep up with inflation, and residents have been limited to withdrawing a few cents day.

Initially, the Petro coin will be offered to institutional investors. This will likely result in increased consumer confidence in blockchain currencies globally.
