Say No to pirated movies, albums or TV shows – White Rabbit

Even though there are a lot of options available to watch a movie like DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, streaming services ( Amazon, Hulu, Netflix) etc, still it is not possible to get rid of piracy completely. As soon as a movie gets released in theatres, the pirated version of the movie gets uploaded online within few hours or maximum within a day.

Why are people still interested in watching pirated content while there are so many options available to watch original movies? For some people, it is too costly to pay and watch original content. But, there are so many other reasons besides money that are given below :

  • Not available in their region: This is the most important reason for pirated content. Many popular movies or TV shows are not distributed throughout the world and they are available only in countries like the UK, US, and Canada. If someone is residing in Africa and wants to watch a popular TV show on Netflix, he/she may not be able to do that because Netflix is not available in their country. So, the only option is to use some torrent websites or other illegal sources to watch the TV show or movie.

  • No patience - Some people will be hardcore fans of a particular artist. As soon as their movie gets released in a theatre, they want to watch it immediately without any delay. They neither have patience nor money to go to a theatre and watch the movie. So, they prefer to watch the pirated content quickly

  • Payment options – Many of the online subscription services accept only credit cards as the payment option. Many people don’t wish to provide their credit card information everywhere as it is not 100% secure because of the fraudulent and hacking activities in online transactions.

White Rabbit has identified all the above problems and is developing an innovative digital streaming and distribution platform which directly connects the users and content creators without any middleman. So, a user residing in any geographical location can watch their desired content by directly communicating with the original content creators and sending payments to them. As the communication is direct, the cost of the content will be much less when compared with other distribution platforms like Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime. The platform is basically a simple browser plugin that easily tracks the content watched by the user and identifies the related content. For getting more information about this browser plugin, please visit https://whiterabbit.one/docs/White_Rabbit-White_Paper_v1.0.pdf

White Rabbit is being developed using the blockchain technology and smart contracts. The user can pay the content creator by using a proprietary token named White Rabbit Token (WRT). WRT tokens are based on the Ethereum standard ERC 20. Once the content producer accepts the tokens, the user can view the content using Rabbit Hole ( a dedicated library for the user with the full collection of all the acquired content ). For the Content Right Holders (CRH), Rabbit hole can be used as a great tool to monetize their content effectively. Check out https://whiterabbit.one/ to read more information about Rabbit Hole and WRT.

How is it going to work if the content providers refuse to sign-on? You can't hold a gun to their heads?

How does White Rabbit compare to Brave?

White Rabbits gonna be such a Game changer.
Hopefully it will bring an end to piracy.
Guys, a lot of Money and effort goes into making your favourite TV show or Movie.
Can we just say no to Piracy?

Braves goal is to reward the everyday content creators such as people who create for Youtube, or even Facebook and Twitter etc. As, White Rabbit aim to revolutionize the film and series industry. ''While Netflix, Amazon and other over-the-top (“OTT”) services have expanded digital streaming globally, the traditional studios and independent producers have been unable to create a space of their own to distribute digitally and globally. '' Thanks to Amazix for this info.

The idea looks awesome.
Besides knowing that it will work through a browser plugin, do we know more about the manufacture of the product itself?
Can you tell if right now there is some actual development work going on with it?
Is it open source or will it be propietary code running on your browser and keeping track of your browsing habits? If it is open source, can you point to the repositories? (I couldn't find them and none of this is in the whitepaper).
The idea looks great but this is ultimately a tech proposal and, unlike other whitepapers out there, there doesn't seem to be a technical description of the product, only marketing, mention of blockchain and, of course, mention of the token.

I have got this answer from Alan, a team member: "I can confirm that we are indeed working on the MVP, currently testing and improving. The MVP will be released before the public token sale, earlier if possible."

Thank you for taking the time to answer.
The first reply doesn't tell me much more than I already knew, but if they are going to publish more detailed info before they start to actually sell it, I'll give it a shot.
Thanks for the info. I'll be on the lookout :-)

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep an eye on this.

In reguards to the manufacturing- White Rabbit is an integrated non-intrusive browser plugin/application that ensures a seamless streaming experience for users. The plug-in recognizes the content being streamed and allows users to offer White Rabbit Tokens (WRT) to the content rights holder (CRH). If CRH accepts tokens, it allows for payments of content without hindering the streaming preference of the user.

I'ts unique browser plugin that recognizes the content you are streaming, from any P2P or open server streaming site you choose to stream from.

TV program. Cinema program. The movies, as the songs, are there to program us. What did McKenna say? «Culture is not your friend, culture is a con»

Anybody remember movie2k.to?

All the popular sites could benefit from using White Rabbit, also other independent sites that stream documentaries, and other lesser known content. TV stations with online players could potentially integrate White Rabbit

I am wondering what made the team behind this to name it "White Rabbit". Interesting choice, but hands up for the idea! Nice project

This is a great way to start somewhere ending piracy.
If a game gets made, buy it. Those people worked hard so why "steal" their money by pirating?
Same goes for movies.
I understand some people cannot afford to go to the movies or buy games, but that still isn't a reason to pirate.
Fantastic post. Really good.

Wow, great innovation...First of all when I think about the effort that content creators put into creating good content and then pirated versions cuts them short of well deserved earnings it's so sad. But with this I think it's rather wonderful that users connect with content creators directly as regards payments. With this the content creators are encouraged to put more effort at originality because they get the deserved rewards for excellence and efforts or otherwise. Thumbs up for the creators of white rabbit. God bless.

I once had an argument with someone on Twitter if there would be incentive for people to pay content creators directly through services like Brave, I was surprised to hear brave paying out content creators even though I thought it wouldn't work. I think services like this and white Rabbit will be the future for alternative ways of monetizing your intellectual property. With middle men out of the way and secured card less payment, it can be goodbye to piracy (for movies), maybe not immediately, but in the long run.

I am brand new to Steemit and this crypto-world; I completely understand that content creators deserve to get paid for what they do. I have never heard of Brave and am having trouble finding more info about it. Are you referring to the browser with ad/script blocking built in?

Yeah, that's brave, but its actually bigger than the browser. Brendan (hope I got that right), the creator of Javascript, believes this is the right way content should be rewarded. He says it will do away with middle men such as ad companies and platform owners who make money from your content then pay you from it. This way, instead of having annoying ads on you site/blog, you have an ad free blog and your audience set a budget from which they pay you. Its called Attention Token. I hope I gave you clear info but you can follow him on twitter to learn more.

Ahah, I found the information, thanks for that. Fascinating concept. Seems like it'll be hard to implement to get to mainstream. Many people are far too used to "free" internet. Glad someone has created a good alternative.

Exactly what i thought and that was my initial argument but I came to learn that all they need is some traction and they will gradually become mainstream, and even if they cant make mainstream, they would have gotten a justifiable market to guaranty they stay in business in the long run. We can only wait to see how they fair but brave is not doing bad and I'm sure White Rabbit and similar services will also thrive.

I never heard about it.I shall try it out. Seems exciting platform.

White Rabbits going to be such a Game changer.

Ideally it will convey a conclusion to theft.

Folks, a great deal of Money and exertion goes into influencing your most loved TV to show or Movie.

I prefer to pay for my Netflix but it bothers me that the European one has less movies etc. available compared to the US market one. I understand the problem is licensing and the antiquated business model of the big players in the entertainment industry. Maybe crypto will help to bring some evolution in this. If I'm not mistaken there already is a crypto dealing with this but I can't remeber the name.
