ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Artificial intelligence has come to stay. This is due to its many advantages and ease with which it has made life easier for industries and businesses in all forms.
Looking at the recent advances in technology, it is easy to see the applications of AI in smart services like self-driving cars, face and voice recognition in mobile phones and so on.

With all these effects, it is logical to say artificial intelligence has started to revolutionize the way we live.
However, the fact that most of the AI algorithms available to the public are those of academic achievements while most of the intelligent ones are developed behind closed doors makes accessibility to these algorithms a major issue.
Another problem is that most AI algorithms are computational resource and time intensive which pose a huge cost limitations when individuals or small teams attempts to create one.
Also the complexity of incorporating many facets for an intelligent AI algorithm may be too daunting to embark upon.

BLOCKCHAIN

Blockchain has been another major player in the revolution of how people relates in terms of business and transactions. It has been a proponent of transacting business between individuals without the interference of third parties (even if they are trusted). This has yield a great many advantages over the traditional way of business transactions in many ways. It has provided access to every and any part of the world for its users and as such extend the reach to which businesses can be conducted.
Now, imagining the combination of these two technologies, one can only salivate on the endless opportunities that lies in wake of such combination. These are what the Effect.AI is offering.

EFFECT.AI

The Effect network is a decentralized artificial intelligence network which is designed to "operate fully on smart contracts deployed on a Turing-complete blockchain". It is designed to develop in phases as shown below:

The Effect network is built on the philosophy of supply and demand which is the underlying model of a decentralized system. This means that the Effect.AI network will connect supply and demand without the need for an intermediary party.

Effect Force: Decentralized Mechanical Turk

Not every job can be handled by artificial intelligence at the moment, so human input is needed in such jobs.

EMT.PNG

The Effect.AI Mechanical Turk (EMT) is a decentralized platform for requesting those jobs. It provides direct link between job requester and the workers with no intermediary interference. This means that EMT is a marketplace where services are exchanged for payments. To clearly explain how it works, consider the following scenario:

For example, a developer (requester) has just created an artificial intelligence application. He needs some tasks which he must apply to fine tune his application for optimal efficiency. However, since these tasks cannot be performed by a computer, he requires human intelligence to do them. These type of tasks are called Human Intelligence Tasks (HITs). The developer can post these tasks on the on the EMT marketplace as a requester specifying how much compensation will be paid to any worker that could do the task. A user (worker) on the platform which can do the task then accepts to do it and submits the result on the blockchain. If the result meets the requirements of the task needed, it gets approved and the worker get paid instantly.

Using the example above, a question which may come to mind may be how the requester get to retrieve tasks results specific to his request if there are many of such requests posted on the network. Well, Effect.AI got this taken care of, as it maintains a database of deployed smart contracts to make it easy for requesters and workers to interact within the network. This way, the requester can retrieve task results submitted in response to the task he posted.
From this use case, several features stand out from which are:
• Provision of alternate means of instant income for workers on the platform.
• Requesters can get on demand results to use for projects/tasks at relatively cheap price since they get to decide the compensation amounts.
• Peer to peer transactions between requester and workers in a seamless manner which require no mediation.
• In any case a very large task request is needed, it will only be a matter of breaking it down to several micro tasks and post them on the network. This will in turn attracts several workers and such requests can get done and the result available in relatively lesser time.

Considering the features highlighted, it is only obvious that as Effect Force grows, it will have many economic impacts as well as benefits. There will be numerous jobs in the network which can serve as source of income to the participants of the network (in this case Workers).
Also, companies can source for data and use these data to train their products progressively or use it to find any potential bug that may prove costly over the lifetime of such products.

Hi

I just had a chance to read your post fully. little bit to late to be able to upvote. sorry

Really good piece of work. Im following all originalworks contenst and I know that this is second time they want people to write about effect.ai.
competition seem to be fierce and I must admit that your post is one of my fav so far.

You mind if i would ask you few questions?

  1. it's not easy to purchase effect.ai. which exchange would you recommend as reliable and safe?
  2. do you think that effect.ai will be more successful as a marketplace comparing to dbc? any thoughts?

cheers,
piotr

obviously followed :)
