Lechería is a Venezuelan city located northeast of the Anzoátegui State, capital of the licensed tourist municipality Diego Bautista Urbaneja, has a population of 61 456 inhabitants1 distributed in 12 km², as a curious fact the municipality where the city of Lechería is located, is the municipality of Venezuela with the longest name, at the same time it is the smallest municipality and one of the richest in Venezuela. Due to its proximity to Barcelona (state capital), Puerto la Cruz and Guanta, it is one of the largest and most important metropolitan areas in eastern Venezuela.
Lechería is also the administrative headquarters of the Parish Dairy, which has two sectors: Commercial Dairy, which is crossed by the Main Avenue, with its shopping centers distributed on both sides of the road and many modern houses; On the other hand, towards the beaches is Lechería viejo (central center), for the amount of modern buildings and old houses, it is considered the residential area.
Cerro El Morro is a great attraction of the city, which many people climb on foot, by bicycle and car to exercise or to enjoy the panoramic view.
The word "Lechería" is also used to indicate the entire Urbaneja Municipality, for which the El Morro Tourist Complex is also called part of Dairy although it belongs to the El Morro Parish.

History.
It was born as San Miguel de Neverí in 1535 but the resistance of the indigenous groups among them the cumanagotos made the town was abandoned a year later by the Spaniards, since then it would serve as a route to communicate the populations of the northeastern area of the then Spanish colony .
The current population of Lechería becomes important during the colonial period of Venezuela at the end of the 18th century when the Spanish crown decided to build the Fortín de la Magdalena, completed in 1799 at Cerro el Morro to avoid attacks by French, Dutch and English pirates on merchants. that took the route that linked Barcelona with Cumaná. In 1817 during the War of Independence of Venezuela Simon Bolivar occupies the fort for a short time to fight against the royalists and then in 1819 is completely dominated by the patriots after the capture by General Rafael Urdaneta.
In the middle of the 19th century, it became a goat breeding area producing goat's milk for the flourishing population of Barcelona. It was at this time that it began to be called Lechería, and at the beginning of the 20th century the fishermen's hamlet or ranchería was founded in what is now the central part of the city, fishing activity predominates well into the twentieth century.
On September 12, 1967 Daniel Octavio Camejo founded the Compañía Anónima para el Desarrollo de la Zona Turística de Oriente (CAZTOR) with the intention of creating a tourist complex for the large-scale region. Thus it is decided to build in a space of 900 hectares of El Morro and the old salt flats of El Magüey and El Paraíso over 20 km of artificial water channels. The development of this area originated the growth and construction of other developments in Lechería, shopping centers, commercial premises, plazas, public areas and the establishment of some companies and commercial offices of large companies. Its strategic location between the cities of Barcelona and Puerto La Cruz accelerated its growth at the end of the nineties.
San José de Neverí, today Lechería, was founded by Mr. Agustín Delgado, General in the expedition of 1535. Delgado was nephew of the last guanarteme (king) of Gáldar, Gran Canaria.
