Full Time Working Mum To Full Time Stay At Home Mum (Breath in and breath out we can do this together. Or theirs always coffee!)

Were you a full time working mum but now a full time mum?

Well let me start by telling you why I’m starting this blog! “To let you know you are not alone in this motherhood of up’s and down’s and if I can do it so can you”.

So let me rewind a little for you. On June 14 last year my 2nd son was born. I was working as a AIN at that time full time when I had to give up work on short notice due to a blood clot in my leg. That was fun going to the hospital then getting told by a nurse when I was at least 30 Weeks pregnant, “You have to inject yourself morning and night with blood thinners. How do you think you are going to go with this?” I turned to the nurse and said umm is this a trick question as the doctor said there are no options for me and I have to stop work immediately, even when I did advise him I was only doing respite due to the size of bub. She then said, “You need to inject your self in the stomach morning and night, I’ll show you”. She pinched a bit of skin and in goes the needle. She looked and me and she said, “Are you OK with doing that? Well the first thing that came out of my mouth was CRAP! The nurse then says “WHAT”! I said the injecting I’ll be right after a few goes, mind of matter I recon. But the pinching of the skin could be a issue soon. I said ” This bugger or nugget as I call him now is a big bugger. Put it this way, my first kid I had the obstetrician thought I was having twins. I said to the nurse theirs no way I can jab him into the bum while I do this as I would hate to bring on early labour. She advised me it was OK. So any of you out there that are going through this don’t worry about asking stupid questions to the nurse as I’ve already been there and done that for you. Haha.

So stay tuned for the next part of being induced and not the normal way.

Being Induced (Balloons anyone)?

So on Monday the 13th of June 2016 I was booked in for a Balloon Catheter. Now your probably wondering what that is? Well its where they put up in you a tube with 2 small balloons on the end and each is inflated either side of your cervix. This is supposed to help open the cervix hahaha yeah right typical not me. Well I had this done with the gas in hand and lets just say thank fuck for gas. It wasn’t a great experience but then what is when someone else other than your husband is playing in that area. Well this balloon thingy had to stay in for 12 hours, so I had to sleep and pee with this thing hanging out of me strapped to my leg that wasn’t fun or comfortable. I didn’t sleep at all really that night because of that thing in me. At around 10 pm that night I got a bloody show. I didn’t have a show with my first as he didn’t want to progress at all so this was new to me even though this is my second child. I was in panic mode when this happened actually I said while sitting on the toilet “Holy Fuck” Umm I think the nurse herd me and said are you OK dear I said Umm is this normal and showed her. Shes said to me ooh good you have had a bloody show a good one too. She said Its perfectly normal. Well a sigh of relief came over me. At that point I needed to do something. So I opened up my laptop I took to hospital and watched some movies to take my mind of things.

Well a whole 3 hours I slept. They took me around to the birthing sweet where my husband was waiting to see if they could break my waters at 6am in the morning. The midwife did a internal and said “Hmm” I said “whats wrong”? She said “Umm I’m going to get the ultra sound machine to just check something”. By this time I was crapping myself thinking whats wrong, what’s happening. Don’t you love it when doctors are so vague. Meanwhile she left my husband and I alone and one ready to go gas machine. Ahh yeah you guessed it my husband wanted to see what all the fuss was about being on this gas. Told him not hog it cheeky bugger. You could say he knows why I was saying OMG I’ve never felt so relaxed like then lol. Well the nurse came back with a ultra sound machine. She said, “I just need to check something before we try and break your waters”. She then advised me “Your son has turned 180 did you notice anything”? I said yeah I thought I did but who knows on practically zero sleep and I’m ready to eat a cow I’m that hungry. She then advised she would have to consult her supervisor. Arrrg more waiting. At that point that gas machine was all I could see as I was feeling so anxious to what was going to happen next. Then you wouldn’t know it this little bugger in me turned again I felt it real good this time. Also this kid of ours had been fully engaged head down on my pelvic bone since 28 weeks so for this to happen lets just say a few big adjectives were used to suppress the anger. The nurse came back and I advised her to check me again considering I just felt him turn again. Yep he was practically back down but then I was advised from the nurse due to this happening I was unable to try a normal birth due to it being unsafe, and he could turn again. Well I felt like crap knowing that this would be my final child I would never be able to have a normal delivery. So you guessed it I went off to have the cesarean.
