#20 My thoughts on... LEAVING MY LITTLE ITALIAN PARADISE
If my roommates would see this title, they would disown me. We were always joking about how we live in a dump-hole, but now when my project is over and I left, I miss the slow life, lack of young people bordering with a demographical catastrophy, and overall dolce far niente. This text will be a short overview of my beautiful last 8 months. LET'S GO!
I came to Italy the same week as I finished university in Zagreb. I was young, enthusiastic, and full of spirit. And I had bangs.
I traveled up and down, back and forth and saw plenty of cool places. Now when my friends bitch about Croatian trains, I just wave them off and say „Darling, you cannot say anything until you see Italian trains. But I saw them. Because I lived there. Wait, am I Italian now?“ And that's the reason my friends hate me.
I had three wonderful roommates, and everybody had a beautifully strong English accent, since we are all third-world trash and we don't know any better.
This is me and my Ukrainian roommate after we decided to buy big sunglasses, because everybody around was wearing them even during blizzards, thunderstorms and general meteorological apocalypse.
We were mostly poor as fuck, but not only because they kept us on minimum wage. We also had terrible spending habits. Who starts smoking when they're poor? My roommate did and here's the latest footage he provided me with.
It's nice to be needed. For example, there was a time I left the city, and boys couldn't figure out how to use the oven. That was sweet in such a perverted way, that even my inner feminist giggled.
I also did some cool stuff like teaching music and being a judge on a rock battle, which made me be in the newspapers twice, but who counts? (The total right now is 8, but my delicate ego won't be happy until I reach 10)
I am not kind of person who misses people or anything, but I miss that dump and my stupid roommates from the bottom of my heart. Hope we'll meet soon.
And jeeeesus, I should get bangs again, I looked smooth af.
Yours truly,
Magda
LOL I loved reading this! I remember the first time around as a student, I was never so broke and never so happy, so much so that I decided to do it again (minus one of those). More of these, please! Your adventures make me happy :D
oh thank you so much @doryumira, I'm always happy to make somebody else happy :D
I remember my days in EVS. I felt like we react the Friends. It was fantastic! I know what you miss, but you should know that my life just got better after. Keep it up, and get your bangs girl!
