What to do if someone screams at you
Psychologists have long been talking about the inherent tendency for violent behavior in human life. Even if you are able to keep yourself and your emotions under control, not everyone around you can boast of such a result.
There are several effective ways to reduce the likelihood of confrontation and make the individual stop screaming at you:
- Maintain silence in response. When the other person starts screaming, it is important to remember that it is solely their problem. The best and most effective way to avoid conflict is to manage your emotions and not respond with words.
- Attempt to communicate that such behavior is unacceptable to you. At the same time, it is necessary to do everything possible to remain calm.
- Walk away. If someone you are not familiar with starts screaming, you can choose not to listen to their remarks and simply turn away and focus on your own matters.
- Ask them to stop, but this method rarely works.
- Suggest taking a break in the conversation and continuing later when everyone has calmed down.
You are not obliged to listen to shouting, so at any moment, you have the right to end a conversation that makes you uncomfortable or to communicate that you do not wish to communicate in such a tone.
