Meet the underwater residence, the first in the world
The sea view will have a completely new meaning for visitors to Conrad Maldives Rangali Island by the end of this year. About $ 15 million have been invested to build what is believed to be the world's first underwater settlement.
Called Muraka or Koral in Divehi, Maldives local language, the underwater residence marks the company's second underwater architecture and technology.
Conrad Maldives Rangali Island has already opened the first seafront restaurant called Ithaa and is celebrating its 13th anniversary this month.
The underwater residence will be a two-tiered structure that consists of space above sea level and an underwater suite designed to sleep under the ocean surface. The underwater suite features a bedroom called King size, dayroom, bathroom and staircase that lead to the dayroom at the top level. The lower floor level in the bedroom sits five feet below the sea level in the Indian Ocean.
The unique design of Muraka comes with a curved acrylic dome, which boasts a panoramic 180-degree panorama. Top floor features include two bedrooms, fitness room, kitchen and bar, with a deck facing the sunset.
In total, the suites can accommodate up to nine visitors.
This underground suite will be completed by November this year.
Wow, amazing idea and concept. Would love to experience it, but probably very pricey adventure.
You should use more tags to get your entry noticed. Anyways I redeemed it. 👌
