In Cumana stands the “Tamarindo Cuatricentenario,” a tree that was declared a municipal heritage site about 50 years ago. When one pauses to consider the history of this tree, currently located in the old Pedro Elías Aristiguieta Square, we realize that if it truly possesses such longevity, it would predate the founding of the Republic, as its origins would date back to the 1600s, just as a famous song says.
