Why you should donate you blood
15 percent of the preserved blood is needed for accident victims. The largest need for blood is in surgery for cancer patients with 26 percent, followed by patients with heart disease and heart surgeries with 20 percent and patients with gastric / intestinal diseases with 19 percent.

Personal experience
I have donated my blood 3 times, 0.5 liters each. The first time you are still pretty nervous because you still do not know what to expect. But the more often you donate, the more relaxed you are during the whole process.
At the beginning I had to fill in a sheet about my physical condition, traveled countries, illnesses ... After that, a drop of blood from your finger will be testet according to the hemoglobin value, if it exceeds a certain value you will be forwarded to the blood donation, otherwise you have to go home. The blood donation itself took about 10 to 15 minutes.
Personally, I've never had circulatory problems or anything like that, the only thing you feel is a slight mistiness, which reminds me of a slight alcohol level. Even if it costs courage in the beginning I can only recommend to anyone to donate their blood.
Ich habe bis jetzt 3 mal mein Blut gespendet, jeweils 0,5 Liter. Die ersten male ist man noch ziemlich nervös da man noch nicht richtig weiß was auf einem zukommt. Aber je häufiger man gespendet hat desto entspannter ist man während dem ganzen Prozess.
Am Anfang musste ich jedes mal einen Bogen ausfüllen über meinen Körperlichen Zustand, bereiste Länder, Krankheiten...Danach wird kurz in den Finger gepickst um einen Tropfen Blut nach dem Hämoglobinwert zu testen, wenn dieser einen bestimmten Wert überschreitet wird man anschließend zur Blutspende weitergeleitet, andernfalls muss man wieder die Heimreise antreten. Die Blutspende an sich dauert dann 10 - 15 Minuten.
Ich persönlich hatte noch nie Kreislaufprobleme oder ähnliches, das einzige was man verspürt ist eine leichte Benebelheit, welche mich an einen leichten Promillewert erinnert. Auch wenn es am Anfang Überwindung kostet kann ich nur jedem empfehlen sein Blut mal zu spenden.
