BRUTALLY HONEST: There are some things it would benefit our future to stop apologizing for...

in #brutallyhonest7 years ago

The world is becoming rather fragile. Wait. Saying that is not being brutally honest. The world is becoming a world full of reality ignoring babies. Wait. That is still not brutal enough. The world is becoming a world full of pussies.

It is not a good thing. When I am saying this I am not talking about people being weak physically. Instead I am talking about them being weak in rational thought, and weak in character. Though the most obvious one is weak in character.

Syllables that flow from the mouths of people and shape words are in this day and age like spears. For some reason all mental defenses are gone. Anything you say can these days be labeled a micro-aggression, or hate speech. You can deeply wound someone without any awareness you have done so. Or that at least is what they would have you believe.

This is being pushed in universities, politics, and in much of the media. People are passing laws about offending people. A recent example is the cases where some places have passed laws that using the wrong pronoun is a crime.

Making all these laws and coming up with new phrases like micro-aggression, and safe spaces is actually NOT a good thing. It is a VERY bad thing and it is rotting minds all over the world. It is accelerating. It is insidious. It is greedy. It is selfish. It is a plague of the mind. It needs to be lanced with reason and excised from our cultures.

You see facts and honesty have rapidly lost value in cultures around the world. Instead they are replaced by nebulous things based purely upon feelings and whether you may intentionally or not intentionally have offended someone.

It wasn't long ago that to offend someone you had to intentionally call them by some intentionally offensive word. These were words like dick, jackass, asshole, jerk, and even unacceptable taboo words like nigger. When those words were used the intent to offend was clear. It could not be mistaken as being something intentional in purpose.

Yet, even those words really depended upon the relationship between the people communicating. A spectator could choose to be offended while the people speaking to each other may have stated something like asshole with some inside knowledge and there may have been affection and understanding that spectators were unaware of. The word nigger would become something used regularly by black people when talking to each other and quite common. In fact, it became an acceptable word as long as you happened to be black.

So someone unaware that wasn't black, didn't know the history, but learned language by listening could use the word nigger the way they heard black people using it and end up in hot water. This yes is partially due to racism, but not by a person simply repeating a word they heard without knowing the history. Racism requires some level of knowledge and awareness to actually be racism. Slapping syllables together because that is what you learned listening to people speak does not make you racist. That requires intent. This is something I will go into further detail in another post as I had two big ideas I wanted to get out. The first needed to be about brutal honesty.

We have become a world that does everything it can to shelter as many people as possible from any danger we can. There are exceptions such as rock climbing, sky diving, skiing, and many other sports which we still allow though they are far more dangerous than many things we try to legislate protection against. I've joked that we are working towards a society that puts rounded rubber covers over every sharp edge on every street corner and step. Someone might fall and hurt themselves on those sharp edges.

Nevermind that we live on this planet and there are many sharp edges. Nevermind that our body is designed to heal, and we are designed to learn from these things.

Nevermind that by trying to protect people from every conceivable negative event we are also preventing them from learning.

It is an important part of learning to learn from experiences.

We are increasingly becoming a society that attempts to legislate away anything that might offend someone. Nevermind that this is incredibly stupid and naive. People can choose to be offended by anything. The word CHOOSE is intentional.

You see in the past an important lesson was learning how to deal with things you didn't like hearing. Hearing things you disagreed with or didn't like was an every day experience. They hadn't began putting rubber protectors over all the sharp edges of mental landscape yet. It didn't mean that hearing things you didn't like resulted in warfare and brutally beating each other up. That might occur at a young age, but then you learned that didn't work. You learned the folly and stupidity of this by EXPERIENCE. These lessons are often not learned anymore.

You learned important lessons such as that even though you try hard sometimes someone else wins. You learned important lessons like winning is NOT everything. You learned as the person who lost that it is okay to cheer on the person that won and beat you. You learned that sometimes you might win.

Those are lessons lost with the advent of participation trophies and worrying about hurt feelings.

There is a problem with all of this protection against offending, and protection against hurting someones feelings. It is not REAL. It also counters important life lessons and leaves vast swathes of people that are really very mentally immature beings walking around in adult bodies.

It also becomes an extremely selfish and egocentric environment. Really most offense seems to come from disagreeing, or challenging. Those things are unacceptable because they can be perceived as "micro-aggressions". Fuck your micro-aggressions, and fuck your safe spaces. Face reality, and wake the fuck up! Grow up! Quit acting like a baby. Quit acting like a pussy. All of these are due to mental immaturity. That immaturity I believe is largely due to being sheltered from life lessons that are uncomfortable but teach us valuable skills and knowledge.

Like. I don't have to agree with you. I don't fucking care if it offends you that I disagree. You don't have to agree with me, and guess what that does not offend me in the least. I may not like it. Sometimes I do like it as I learn a lot from people who disagree with me. Yet, I am not going to pass laws, or create zones and areas where people are only permitted to speak things that I agree with. This is stupidity. This is folly. This is mental rot.

It needs to die. Not only does it need to die. It needs to be killed. This mental contagion needs to be eradicated. I am writing this post as I intend to use the tag #brutallyhonest and put that in the titles of some of my posts that I write with the realization I am speaking without worrying whether I am offending people or not.

Instead of dancing around truth. Instead of trying to avoid talking about things that might offend someone or be uncomfortable, I will instead speak my mind.

My goal was not to offend. My goal was simply to embrace reality and start peeling the bubble wrap and rubber bumpers off of the mental landscape. We are failing as a WORLD and as a SPECIES when it comes to the mental, and emotional development of our species. We are becoming wimps, and pussies.

Where is the sky diving, rock climbing, extreme sports, nascar, indy racing, etc for our mental landscape.

I'll tell you it has been dying for some time.

A large portion of that is coming from our universities. It is then propagated by our media, and our entertainers. As populations of people become supposedly "adults" they are now in positions to put what they've learned to work. The problem is there is so much they have not LEARNED. They are sheltered from parts of reality and not taught it anymore.

This is leaving a swath of adults that literally act like children throwing tantrums when they don't like something, or didn't get what they want. I mean recently we had "scream at the sky events" and that was a big waking moment for me. It wasn't a waking moment to convince me to give the screamers what they wanted.

No my awareness was that this looked much like the same scenes I had seen at daycare centers with children when I was the president of a communal daycare when my kids were young. It was a bunch of ADULT bodies that appeared to have the minds of little children.

They hadn't learned life lessons that you don't always get what you want. They may have had door mat parents too that actually gave in to such tantrums when they were kids and they never learned how annoying and stupid such acts are. So they are now adults that look just like children throwing tantrums.

It is worse though. Some of them have PHds, are professors, are scientists, etc. They don't realize those things are labels given for certain training. That does not mean they are super beings that don't have serious flaws.

Society has a major problem with this. It is not just in the United States. It is ALL over the place and it is a mental plague. It is rotting the society of Sweden. It is a plague in the U.K. It is a plague in the European Union, though there are pockets of resistance. Those pockets are mainly from countries that not long ago were under the control of the "Union of Soviet Socialists Republics" until it collapsed. They experienced that environment, that situation and they don't EVER want to go back to that. Yet, they see the EU and other parts of the world pushing towards stupid ideologies that they already have experienced first hand and want no part of. I am sure there are exceptions, but by the reaction of countries such as Poland this does seem to be a majority of such populations. They learned lessons and try to share them. Yet people seem to let their egos rule and they won't believe it unless they experience it themselves. So they want to try the same things that historically have been tried many times.

They'll even bash fascism while in fact it is they that are doing EVERYTHING that the fascist movements in history did. They simply view fascists as anyone that disagrees with their beliefs. Yet, that is what the fascists in the past believed as well. I mentally picture hordes of people that are sorely in need of a giant mirror. Their shouts against fascism should be squarely aimed at themselves. They don't see it. Why? Fascism is incredibly intolerant in history. They'' shout how tolerant they are while not tolerating any thought or speech that they disagree with. This is not tolerance. They cannot see that either. They will yell about hate speech, while if they had a mirror they would see the rage and hate and vitriol that is coming from their mouths. They will yell about racism while the most racist things currently being stated on the planet come from within their own movements. Why?

They have been mentally bubblewrapped. They didn't learn how to accept offense. They didn't learn how to NOT be offended by trivial things. They didn't learn how not to view everything they dislike as a micro-aggression. They didn't learn what hypocrisy is and how to recognize it. They didn't learn that it is okay and normal to be wrong. They didn't learn that failed scientific experiments are as important to document as successful ones. They didn't learn that reality doesn't care about consensus. They didn't learn than the quantity of people that believe a thing cannot alter the reality of whether a thing is true or false. These things are offensive to learn. They are micro-aggressions. So it was simply removed from their lives and their experiences.

Thus, we now have a world of supposed "adults" that were so mentally sheltered from everything that large amounts of them appear not to have learned simple lessons that in the not so distant past even small children would learn.

What does that leave us?

Well, if you took a playground full of pre-schoolers and kindergartners and suddenly transported them into adult bodies and told them they needed to run the world. It might look a lot like what it's been increasingly looking like.

Brutally Honest. Wake The Fuck Up. If you're offended, GET OVER IT, LEARN.

Sort:

Me, mE, ME, me, MEEEEEE!!!!! Let's give a trophy to all the losers and see how they grow up, oh ,wait we already are living in the outcome of that........... You want to see how ridiculous it's become check out mark dice's new vid on YT titled " Mayor cries after city council member denies her "white privilege."

Yeah I saw that.

The world is becoming a world full of pussies.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

A Nation of Victims: The Decay of the American Character was written by Charles J Sykes in 1993.

Looks to me like he was spot-on.

Seriously, how the f**k doe a single picture on steemit get $111.73 with only 107 views?????? And how do you get 144 votes on something that has 107 views. Something doesn't make sense to me at all.... downright suspicious.

Well, for one thing, I've spent 10 to 18 hours a day networking, curating, training, recruiting and promoting steemit for over 19 months straight. I also invested a large amount of money into the platform. I have taken many people who came here with an open attitude, and a work ethic, from zero to substantial incomes themselves.

Is it just a single picture on steemit or is it also the ten thousand hours I have put into the platform which makes my post valuable?

And, seriously, if you are going to be a mgtow, do it for philosophical reasons , not just because you lack balls.

I agree with this 100% man! Its so hard to even listen to half the complaints going around lately because most of it is laughable and impossible to take seriously. The mental capacity to overcome REAL obstacles in life is getting less with each generation and its scary.

This offends me! (You know I had to go there) ;-)
40 years ago I saw this all happening and folks told me it would never happen...They have since told me they were sorry they did not listen.

Sir,thats a great philosophy. Thanks for sharing.

Usefull about philosophy post. Thank you for share @dwinblood

Sounds like you're just offended that people are offended by things. Seems a little hypocritical to me.

Reread it. I covered that. :) So. In this case you are wrong. I am not offended at all. I am concerned though. A world of people whining over all the things that offend them and becoming "leaders", "law makers", etc. is already causing brain rot.

thats a great philosophy my dear..best of luck
