I was browsing through my feed on Hulu at the other day when I noticed a new movie. The Disappearance of Alice Creed.
Now that sounds right up my alley. As you might know by now I am a very big fan of campy b horror movies.

It has a rating of 6.7 on IMDb which is a very high rating for this kind of horror camp movie. Most movies like this seem to be rated about 4.5. I do take ratings with a grain of salt but sometimes they can help to determine the value of a movie. Not always since some of these ratings are paid endorsements.
Watching the trailer for this movie got me really excited. That's because it was very reminiscent of another movie called You're Next.
That movie is about a group of people that are attacked by outsiders and a individual young girl that is underestimated.
It is a movie about empowerment and I really thought that this movie was going to be in about empowerment as well. The trailer would leave you with that mindset.
Unfortunately, that really does not seem to be the case. This movie is mostly just about a young woman who is kidnapped by a couple of attackers who are basically completely screwed up in the head.

I was really disappointed with this movie. It moves in a straightforward line and does not attempt to be anything more than it is.
That's not always a bad thing. In fact, often times that turns out to be a really good thing. However, in this sense the movie just didn't achieve any sort of goal. It didn't even really seem to attempt any sort of goal.
Alice Creed is kidnapped by a couple of guys, she is unable to escape, a series of bad things happen to her.
This is anunpleasant movie that doesn't have anything that I would call campiness involved with it.
It doesn't have any kind of female empowerment. It doesn't have any kind of fun factor.
It's a very simple movie about a girl getting kidnapped and a terrible situation that she finds herself in. it's also mostly actually about the two crazy guys doing the kidnapping but they are not interesting...they are just nutjobs.
If you can't make a movie interesting then you aren't making it the right way.
I'd be surprised if you enjoyed this movie. It has some minor nudity and some minor graphic violence.
Nothing interesting to see here though. The Disappearance of Alice Creed is a movie that I hope will disappear from the recesses of my mind very soon.

It also repeats what I say like four times. So incredibly frustrating.
