Aedes albopictus also known as the Asian Tiger Mosquito; likely for it's striped pattern, though they are quite tenacious!
Mosquitoes are very easy to find; since they actively look for you!

This is a great shot! We didn't use to have tiger mosquitos here, but a couple of years back they appeared - probably with some of the ships. Really small and hard to see compared to the local species.
Yeah, I read on the Wikipedia page that they like to catch rides on ships in shipments of old tires. This one can carry most of the mosquito borne viruses, not malaria (a protist) though, that's a different mosquito.
No problem, we already had the malaria mosquitos here! I need some repellent, I guess!

It often amazes me how seeing different subjects (esp macro) can really change your internalized vision of these pests. Normally, when I think of a mosquito, I just think of some ugly brownish looking thing that buzzes around handing out itchy patches on people. The legs and your comp will have changed my view going forth no doubt. Excellent overall contrast with the bright background.
Thanks for the great words! I'm happy that my photo had such an impact! Though we think of them as pests, they are just trying to live as best they can. Massive disease vector though. :)
