New Zealand considering decriminalising Canabis
It finally looks like that New Zealand is considering decriminalising Canabis. And on paper from a financial standpoint it makes a lot of sense - it will save the taxpayer $400million each year in prosecution costs and could make an additional $150 million a year with taxes that could then be used for education and support for drug addicts.
For myself I choose not to do drugs but have plenty of friends that like to on occasion.. and why not? Most crimes around drugs are committed because the drugs being against the law forces things to go underground which brings on more risk than what the law does to protect us.
So, what do you think? Perhaps it is time for all countries to get on board. We do not need draconian laws that outright ban these subtances.. we need practical measures to ensure that the supply is controlled in a similar manner to alcohol (which we all know is more harmful).
It's ironic that NZ's #1 domestic crop is "illegal" - guess it won't actually change my own behavior - I'll keep on having it several times a week as I have for decades, but hopefully it will be cheaper. I wouldn't drink alcohol though!
good news tho needs to be implemented in australia for me to care sorry to be harsh
More and more countries will come to the realization that they need to legalize cannibis. its about time
