Legal Cannabis In Canada - Over-Grow The Government!
Photo: Jay Anarchon
Before we all start jumping up and down and celebrating the "legalization" of cannabis, let's look at some of the facts of the matter together and take a look at this from a holistic perspective. To me cannabis has always been a God-given right, something the stroke of a pen could neither grant nor take away.
One of my favorite quotes regarding cannabis legislation (or any other natural substance regulations) is from the late Bill Hicks, who said:
“Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn't the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?”
Criminal Law
There may be those of you reading who still believe in the legitimacy and false authority of government, out of love and respect I would like to point you towards my short essay on The Applied Philosophy Of Anarchy.
The fact of the matter is that every single government on the face of the earth is guilty of, at the very least;
- Embezzling money
- Poor management (not doing the jobs they are getting paid to do)
- Lying in the course of duty
- Corporate favoritism, choosing profits over people
- Implementing health practices that harm citizens (fluoride in drinking water, dangerous vaccines, unhealthy food and drugs)
Even when discussing issues with supporters of government (statists) I find that all of the above is common knowledge. What is disturbing is that a statist somehow accepts all of these things as part of necessary reality and looks at them as something we need to vote away, as if the same entity that created and profits from the problems, can somehow be petitioned to reconsider our best interests. A statist will also deny all of the following facts;
- Governments are not here for the best interest of the people. They are here to control. In Latin, the word government literally translates to mind-control. If you think this was done by accident when developing the English language you are most definitely mistaken.
- Every consumable industry under the control of the government does more harm then good. Think of pharmaceuticals, health-care, food, tobacco, alcohol. These industries, under the regulation of government, are killing our societies.
- Governments are the main cause of death on the face of the Earth consistently throughout history.
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it."
-Aristotle
Many don't see the totality of this statement. As the sentence itself deals with the positive accepting many have come to understand this as being able to consider an idea you are presented with without accepting it. But read the quote again. What he is saying is you need to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. Please recognize that your thought could be inclined towards acceptance or rejection of an idea you are presented with, it is this thought of which he speaks. It is in this spirit that I would like you to consider all the facts presented about government above.
If any of the above be true and I will state it is all fact, the governments are run by criminals. Just let that sink in.

Yay Legalization
With the consideration of the above facts, are we really convinced that control and regulation of a natural healing plant that is responsible for zero deaths and has no independent clinically proven negative health effects, is in safe hands with these criminals? Are we going to see death and disease related to cannabis becoming prevalent? Of course this would relate to higher costs, more taxation and further control of cannabis. It's happened with everything else, but nah, it can't happen with cannabis! There's that government (mind-control) kicking in...
The truth is, legal cannabis will be most or all of the following;
- Expensive (costs of store fronts, distribution, taxation, fancy packaging, etc)
- GMO (already in the works)
- Irradiated (I know at least a couple licensed producers follow this practice)
- Not organic (just like at the grocery store you will have some organic options)
- Produced strictly for profit (these companies are worth billions and are traded on the stock market. If you don't know how the recall process for contaminated and deficient products for corporations such as this works, I suggest you look into it)
Take a look online at the recalls of medical cannabis and lists of chemicals approved for use by licensed producers in Canada. But we can trust them...

Overgrow The Governments
Growing your own, or knowing the grower personally is the only way to really know what is in your cannabis. I highly advocate producing your own cannabis, fully recognizing we are under adverse societal conditions not allowing this to be practical for everyone. I would love to see any who are willing and able to start planting seeds! Cannabis Growers of Canada is an organization passionately fighting to protect the industry from these corporate criminals who are stealing it from the very people who built it. They also work to promote craft cannabis producers in Canada. Check out their website! By growing our own and supporting local craft producers we have a chance of beating these criminals and OVER-GROWING THE GOVERNMENT!
some good looking dope, yea it will be interesting how Canada's market goes
There is no speculation. It will follow the same formula used with every other regulated industry.
The definition of insanity: Doing the same thing and expecting different results.
yea would be great if it leap frogged and destroyed all the terrible regulations of other industries at least for its industry
Won't happen... unless we make it happen.
probably true, would be nice if it was legal the right way

Awesome, I appreciate the support guys!
This post gets a standing ovation from me. I'm submitting it for curation by @canna-curate. I couldn't agree with you more with about pretty well every point you've written. Great post!
I'm so glad that Quebec and Manitoba's bid to ban home grows got stuck down. Their plan was to make you pay for something you can grow in your backyard. You have to think that the politicians and policy makers are in bed with the LP's so that they can get those extra profits from people that could be getting the medicine for free.
Mother Nature > Man. When you go against her you cannot hope to win. Over Grow Canada!!
Hey bluntsmasha, I was telling you about this the other day and you basically said "let's wait and hope you're wrong on that"..... I guess you decided to look into the matter? :)
Trust me i have the same fears as you with this but I know society is progressing, although the fight is surely not over, we need to push for full decriminalization imo. No one should go to jail over a plant.
The fact that we have all this hypocrisy with the former Toronto chief of police and Ex Deputy Commissioner of the RCMP sitting on the executive board as well as being the CEO and President of a Cannabis company does not sit well with me. They and their friends have been jailing people for decades for doing the same thing they are now getting into business for themselves. Makes me sick to be honest. The people that have fought for these right since day one are being stepped on and the people that were demonizing cannabis before are now setting up to profit from it, just is so wrong and heartbreaking. But i will remain optimistic because at least it will be legal for everyone to own their 4 plants per household. That is a huge step although i agree most of the new penalties are a step backwards it seems. I'm just not sure how much they will be enforcing those new penalties. Maybe it will end up being pretty lax in the long run, lets hope. If not we will fight, and I will be there helping just as i know you will be my friend.
"Trust me i have the same fears as you with this"
Actually, that's all I needed to hear. Thanks for getting it :)
I believe in being aggressively optimistic about the future, but aggressively realistic about the present. I'm oversensitive on the issue because it directly impacts my life, and @MediKatie's life, and we have friends in prison for peaceful cannactivism. Some of our friends (including us at times) can't get enough cannabinoids to treat our symptoms because the price is so high due to prohibition. Many of us could grow acres of quality cannabis if not for unjust laws that have only been around for 3 generations. And MediKatie and I have friends who have died because of the above issues and their complications. We understand why the activism community is so broken - for the most part, it's not their fault. These are some of the best people in Canada, changing things for the better all the time, rarely with any recognition or pay. In fact most of them are scorned and told to get a job, it's pretty tough to be honest, but we do it because we must, not because we're looking for approval.
And like you said, we're getting somewhere. It's just sad to be losing so many people along the way, when it really shouldn't be taking this long, or being so corrupted and inefficient.
Only BC and maybe a couple other places are allowing plants at home. There's provincial prohibition on top of the federal prohibition. It all adds together, not subtracts. And then there is local prohibition as well. Only a couple cities in BC are going to allow plants. And then there is residential prohibition on top of everything, a 4th level. Strata councils, apartment boards, and landlords have decided for the most part to ban plants.
So in Canada there may be only a few neighborhoods with plants, and only in stand-alone houses where the owner is the primary occupant. Almost literally nobody in Canada at all.
And they've launched a new provincial police force now. We have the RCMP federally, and we have local police forces, but now we also have provincial cannabis cops. They're already going through dispensaries computers, inventory, patient files, and so on. There are hundreds of dispensaries in BC, serving hundreds of thousands of patients, and ALL of them are being closed. Some of these places were started by activists 25 years ago and have never turned a profit, but they're being raided and imprisoned.
Check google. It's terrifying.
But yes, if we admit the truth of the current situation, massive amounts of optimism for the future are warranted! It's bad now, but it won't be bad much longer :)
I just posted another post regarding this... The only progress we need to make is away from government.
If you guys have the time check out my post on The Applied Philosophy Of Anarchy
Let's keep the conversation going!

Wow
A great move by Canada to legalize Canabis. But reading this post, its obvious the government has a plan to make profits from this like they do with every other thing. The government is just a fancy word for selfish people out for their own personal interests in the guise of that of the nation.#OVER GROW THE GOVERNMENT
Legalization is irrelevant when human rights are made illegal. When you have criminals making laws, the laws hold no merit. We have the responsibility to reign in the monster. Cannabis is a RIGHT regardless of location or criminal legislation.
Any government passing anti-cannabis legislation is guilty of murder, as this plant is proven to save lives.
Just like at the grocery store, they will sell what people buy. Let's boycott them and keep the grassroots movement alive!
Thanks for the comment!
Over Grow The Government!
This is a great post! Thank you for helping spread the reality about "legalization".
Thanks for the positive feedback and comment! Let's all keep the conversation going, and more importantly, ACT ACCORDINGLY! Don't support this shit with the fruits of your labors! Boycott government controlled cannabis!
Agreed! Friends don't let friends buy LP weed!
My wife has a prescription (finally) but still chooses black market. Will be the same after 'legalization'. It's where the best price and highest quality meet. As patients on a budget, there's really no alternative. Oh yeah, and the black market has edibles and dabs. Fuck their irradiated shwag blends and myclobutanil toxic Health-Canada approved cyanide bunk!
I'm proud to be a part of the Vancouver 420 Farmers Markets.
The brownies are winning! :D
Fist bump @drutter!
Killer article and underscores the fact nature isn't free. This is a travesty of justice. And I'm totally infavor of going totally no taxes for my smoke... Oh wait I do!
Support your grower!
Thanks for the positive feedback!
Of course! Thanks for bringing it!
Excellent post😎

Cheers, thanks!
Personally I find that this should be legalized everywhere because of the painkilling effects.. I dont use it myself, never been my cup of tea, but I completely understand why people use it for example when they're in so much pain and normal medications dont work. And also the CBD oil is proven to be a good medication for many. And another thing that I find important, how many people on cannabis are causing trouble vs how many people on very heavy painkillers (with all these side effects) ?
I appreciate the supportive comment!
Legalization is irrelevant when discussing human rights. This is not an issue of 'the lesser evil'. This is an issue of criminal governments attempting to police the consciousness and physiology of "free" adults. As well as the issue that government control of any industry always results in that industry becoming harmful to the public.
In not so many words - we need to get rid of the criminal governments that would seek to harm and control it's citizens. This includes every government on Earth. How many cancer patients have died from denial of cannabis alone?
I appreciate your open mindedness despite your choice not you use cannabis. Thanks again for the support!
Trust me, I know (unfortunately) plenty about corrupt governments. We had to deal with that in Holland, in a very harmful way that we actually fled from our country in fear (with a 3 month old baby). We have experienced how a government can try to bring you down when you are speaking up to defend your rights, and just want justice for what's done to you. My story goes very far, and since those things happening I am very aware of what is actually going on in the world, and not surprised when I find another big scandal .. I wish I could say otherwise, but the world is run by a bunch of psychopaths.. :(
I am sorry to hear about your troubles, justice will never come from those impeding on it.
If the governments get their power from the people it is tacitly. Only we have the power to end it!
Thanks for the reply.
I've posted a follow up to this post containing some more important facts.
