YOUR BRAIN UNDER THE EFFECTS OF CANNABIS

in #cannabis7 years ago (edited)

¡Hi friends Steemians!

I was checking Twitter when I suddenly found a post, which basically talked about the chemical response that our brain has when it is under certain types of substances and therefore its effects. Following this I asked myself: how does our brain respond to Cannabis? I investigated and here is the answer:

What happens in your brain?

Unlike other recreational drugs, marijuana contains cannabinoid molecules and the human brain also works with cannabinoids in low amounts all the time. The general function of these molecules in the brain is to regulate how neurons communicate, because they are neurotransmitters. Therefore when marijuana is consumed the cannabinoids present in it interfere in the endocannabinoid system that is being carried out in the body, and mimic the behavior of these molecules that our body naturally produces.

When a person smokes marijuana, cannabinoid molecules, especially TCH (Tetrahydrocannabinol), pass rapidly from the lungs into the bloodstream, thus transporting the chemical to the brain and other organs of the body. Because the endocannabinoid system is found in a large part of our body, cannabinoids can control memory and sensations such as hunger, sleep patterns and pain relief. That is why marijuana has the effect of relieving pain, releasing pleasurable sensations to our body and above all increasing our appetite.

Your senses are magnified completely

When neurons are excited throughout the brain, they begin to work at a higher speed than usual, each thought becomes the starting point for a deeper thought. Everything you read, think, see, smell, taste, touch, and hear becomes the deepest part of the world.

With all this great neuronal movement, hormones such as dopamine and norepinephrine are secreted throughout the brain, which generally produce feelings of euphoria and tranquility, which translates to: happiness hormones. These hormones also manage to relieve physical as well as emotional pain, thanks to the reactions caused by the great neuronal activity caused by TCH.

What cerebral effects can Cannabis use cause?

Although marijuana can bring many really striking and interesting aspects it is evident that it impacts the good functioning of the memory, at least for a short period of time and then returns to normal, when its use is merely recreational.

London professor Robin Murray, of King College, believes that changes in the brain caused by marijuana would be a way to adapt and only temporary. If the person stops consuming, the brain would return to normal.

However, prolonged use of this substance could permanently damage the cerebral hippocampus, decreasing its mass and significantly affecting its memory, although there is no really conclusive evidence, that is, there is no clear evidence of the long-term effects that can cause The consumption of marijuana in the cerebral cortex, however, does not remove the possibility that it exists.

What is certain is that the consumption of marijuana (only if smoked) causes serious respiratory problems in the long term, therefore it is recommended to opt for vaporizing cannabis since it is a method of healthy consumption because in this way they heat the substances at a precise temperature to release the active ingredients in vapor form without the toxic substances of combustion, thus avoiding any risk of respiratory problems when smoking.

Does it generate addiction?

Although marijuana does not contain addictive properties or causes some physical withdrawal syndrome to stop being consumed (There may be a psychological withdrawal syndrome for not having something you like) unlike other drugs that do. However, a person could become addicted because they tend to become addicted to the things that are most pleasing to them.

Marijuana does not usually affect the brain in such a way that it makes a person addictive because it is composed of compounds with which the body is already very familiar or accustomed in a natural way. That is, the brain does not stop producing cannabinoids after stopping cannabis use. It is a part of the brain's natural process.
