The GLI is my favorite trim level from the Jetta family, however the Jetta S offers a very good option for the money. My first Volkswagen was a Jetta VR6, I loved the sound of the V6 engine.
I never drove or rode in one of those early VR6 powered Jettas but I always liked the smoked taillights.
