Carson Wentz will match up to $500K in fundraising effort for children of Haiti
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is a stand-up guy who has shown already in his early NFL career that helping people off the field is just as important to him as winning on it. Not surprisingly, he's highly popular, ranking No. 10 on SNIPDaily's NFL Top 100 as of Monday.
Last year he set up his AO1 Foundation, which helps children and veterans in various ways, including providing service dogs to those in need.
Right now, Wentz is embarking on a two-week fundraising campaign that is aimed at raising money for children living in Haiti, which is still in terrible disrepair ever since the devastating earthquake that hit the island nation back in 2010. Wentz will personally match up to $500,000 in donations, which will go toward the Haiti Sports Complex.
Per the press release sent out by the Mission of Hope, one of Wentz's parners, "The 60-acre sports complex will host sports leagues for 15,000 kids annually and provide programs focused on character development, education, and discipline."
“I believe the sports complex will bring joy, hope, and dignity to thousands of kids and help inspire and develop character in the next generation of leaders in Haiti,” said Wentz. “The vision behind the Mission of Hope sports complex lines up with our foundation’s mission to demonstrate the love of God by providing opportunities and support for the less fortunate and those in need."Construction efforts on this project have already begun, and it is expected to be completed by the fall of 2018.
