6 ways in which pets are useful for your mental health
People with pets know that they manage to catch even the most inconspicuous problems. Animals at home can help their owners cope with things like psychic crises, especially during difficult times, scientists have found in a new study. Emotional contact between pets and pets can be very intense and allow for unexpected but effective support.
Team scientists have analyzed the data from 17 different studies that have focused on the impact of domestic animals on their hosts and have compiled a list of possible different benefits from communicating with pets :
People find the animals soothing and supportive
People believe that domestic animals predict and warn them of danger or problems
The pets manage to dispel them from the state of psychological problems
They gave them an extra reason to live
They have had an impact on building and maintaining a positive identity of the owner
Domestic animals have taken their owners unreservedly and as they are
"Further research is needed on the nature and type of links between pets and their hosts. They need to be able to identify the different types of roles and benefits that come from pets, especially in cases of poor mental health, "explains Dr Helen Brooks of the team who conducted the analysis.
