Velvet, Then the End
Two worlds collide
expectation and the end,
the living and the left behind.
Velvet lilies lay themselves open,
blood running slow through each thread.
sight tempts, the orb corrupts,
aroma strung through the air
bear witness.
Thorns piercing through willing skin,
the arousal, the ascend,
above the thick red, above the velvet,
suspended in the vastness of bed.
The blood and the bloom, one color,
A spectacle, with the allure of a gift
eyes beget, concede and ease
ritual,
The living hover,
death made beautiful, therefore cruel.
Flower and leaf keep their distance,
sharing only what rots below.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
The poem is not exactly about the prompt, but the similarity that it had with spiderlily. I love what it stands for, beauty enclosed. I tried writing something about it a while ago, but the words butchered it.
There is a disconnect....surely a skill issue.

Usually, we all use the same photos for this contest but hey, I am more than satisfied!
It's so frustrating, lilies could be anywhere.
I saw that people used the same picture, after the fact.
If I cut off the stamens, there is no allergy. Fortunately, we don't have that many of them. Flower shops are also becoming fewer and fewer, so that helps. I haven't had a bouquet of flowers in my house for years. For some reason, I find it upsetting to see cut flowers, which are already dead, continue to die in a vase in the house. It doesn't really make me happy. It doesn't matter that you used a different photo, it's a flower, it's red and your poem is very moving!
