I put that verse on Page 4 for a reason.

I’ve been sitting on this scene since I was a teenager. It’s based on real conversations I heard at church — about faith, family, and what obedience sometimes costs.

A pastor came for doctrinal teaching once and talked about what happens when a man is called into ministry from a complicated family situation. That stuck with me.

This page is the fallout. A boy asking questions he shouldn’t have to ask. A mother trying to hold him together with scripture.

She tells him to remember Ishmael. Sent away. Written off. But God didn’t leave him to die in the desert.

I’m not going to unpack the whole page here. You’ll see why when you read Issue 1. But this is where the light first shows up for him. Not as a superpower. As a promise.
