If We Don't Start to Hate Each Other

Empty platitudes can feel like salt in a wound in the midst of separation.

I wrote this several years ago for a fellow writer, born from a wish for him to find peace during a difficult transition.

I wanted this piece to honor a different kind of ending: one where we didn't start to hate each other but simply recognized that the season had changed.

Too often we hear stories where things didn't end amiably. So many are marked by resentment or the slow burn of old hurts.

It's never easy when the heart is still heavy, but the mind knows it's time.

I hope time will be a gentle healer for anyone going through it, rather than a constant reminder of regrets.

Love’s Metamorphosis

From we to me, with gratitude.

Sometimes, life unfolds in the least expected ways.

We fought for what we had but forcing it wouldn’t be right. It became clear, like branches reaching for the sun, that our paths would need to grow in different directions.

While there might not be a perfect way, knowing it’s the best for each other brings a strange comfort.

We’ll still be there, a source of support, not of hurt anymore.

my love
it’s been a beautiful journey
hand in hand we’ve trod
walking this blessed road

shared laughter and tears
sunshine’s warmth and pouring rain
we dreamt as one
reaching for the stars

but love
like nature’s course
unfolds in ways unseen

this is it, then
this is where our paths diverge
where we say goodbye

the love that we had
it metamorphosed
stifling it would only break us

we fought for our love valiantly
with unyielding hearts
hoping for a constant flame

but like branches reaching for the sun
we will grow in different directions

the two of us
once intertwined
now become two souls defined

with lesson learned
we will forge new trails
one for you, and one for me

we are still walking together
though on parallel lines now
you will always be a part of me
as i will always be a part of you

thank you, my love
the laughter and the tears
for dreams we chased
the conquered fears
throughout the passing years

our memories
are the treasures we created
forever we’ll own
carried on through sun and rain
