Wherever you are, they are always on your mind.
You think about them all the time.
You wonder where they are and what they are up to when you are not around.
You are so fond of them, you want to be around them all the time.
It's always a joyful atmosphere when you are together.
The thought of losing them breaks your heart, so you try hard to keep them close.
The more closer they get, the more fond you guys are.
You get to them more than before.
It has a price though, you sacrifice a lot to keep such relationships going.
But it'll be worth the sacrifice in the end.

You described very well how it is to be fond of anyone or more than one person. It fits great to Valentine's Day just a bit early but being fond is not related to one date only.
It's true what you wrote, one has to sacrifice a lot to keep such a relationship going but also invest more than one can imagine. The waste comes if it's clear it was a dead end which reminds me of a song...(asking back for all the time invested in an ex partner).
Time invested cannot be undone, you can only dwell on the memories created.
