I guess things don’t really last forever.
Gabriel hummed quietly as he flipped through the documents that had been sent the previous night. At this point, they were no longer hints and they were threats. He was being pressured to sell the farmhouse. He knew he had to raise funds quickly, or the farmland would be gone.
“How could Dad do this to us?” he lamented. “They’ve taken all our assets, and now they want to take this farmland too.”
He looked out through the window, and his eyes caught a glimpse of Nikey, a white horse with a flowing white mane. Even the early morning sun didn’t do her enough justice. she was beautiful, beautiful is even an understatement. She was ethereal.
He stepped out of the cabin and reached her, gently stroking her mane. He brought her mouth gently close to his, and they stayed locked in that calm position for a few minutes. Nikey never fidgeted during this ritual as it was something she always seemed to look forward to.
“If it’s for you, Nikey, and the other animals, I’ll fight for this farmland,” he said softly, as if she could understand him.
She neighed in response.
He laughed, brushing the bridge of her nose.
