And I thought...
When it comes down to it, I'd prefer to do it myself. No "I thought you would do the dishes!", no "I expected you to bring the trash out!", no "I assumed you would wash the car!"... nope, none of these.
In my years of being alive, I have been disappointed and frustrated enough to "thought", to "expect", to "figure" or to "assume". If I can do it myself, if I am able, I would rather do it myself. And I don't blame the other person. If I wanted the person to do it, I should have said it clearly and not think about it and expect the other person to read my mind. I learned to say it rather than to think about it in my head and then expect.
Unless of course, if I have said it clearly, the other person agreed to do it and didn't do it in the end. Maybe, just maybe, if the person truly forgot, I would forgive. But if time and time again, the person forgot, it doesn't seem right anymore. I don't like depending or relying on people, unless I really have to. In my job, I have my responsibilities, and my team has theirs. But if I have the knowledge, if I can help out, eventhough it is not my responsibility, I would still do it. Why not?
I have said it before and will say it again... When you don't have expectations, you will not be disappointed and you'd be happy. I choose to be happy.

expectations often create unnecessary disappointment, especially when the other person does not even know what we expect from them. Clear communication avoids so many misunderstandings.
I also prefer doing things myself whenever I can. Still, when someone gives their word, I believe it is reasonable to expect them to keep it. Forgetting once is human; repeatedly failing to follow through is something else.
Perhaps happiness comes not from having no expectations at all, but from knowing where to place them—and when to let them go. Cheers :)
Very nicely said @marcoteixeira. Yours sounded more beautiful than what I wrote and I agree 💯, and clear communication is so important, mainly speaking from experience because I have had feedback saying exactly that, that they can’t read my mind. My bad, my bad and I learn from it.
This is wisdom. No expectations, no disappointment. I would rather just do it myself too and stay in my peace. The number of times I’ve been mad at someone for not reading my mind is embarrassing. Doing it myself means less stress and more control. I choose to be happy. Thanks for sharing this.
I choose to be happy too 🙏 Happy Monday there!
Same to you
Have a blessed week 😊
