I believe that in everyday life, there are many different human characters. Some are indifferent to their surroundings, some are genuinely concerned, and some are cruel to others.
In today's world, we often see people busy with their own lives without regard for those around them. Even within villages, solidarity has diminished. There are wealthy people, but next door there are poor people, even widows, and orphans, but they receive no assistance whatsoever.
His house leaks when it rains, and he has to move his belongings to a safe place, but there's no attention from the government, and no one around him helps him. It's like the picture of the cat hanging on the ground. Even though there are several other cats nearby, it seems as if it doesn't see him.
If we want to rise above, we must work on our own and not expect help or depend on others. Although not everyone is like that, I always advise anyone with a good heart to say, "There are still good people in this world. If you can't find one, be one."
I think that when it comes to life, we are all incredibly busy, even if we are unemployed and spend the whole day lying in bed or sleeping on the sofa.
Has the world changed? Are we less social? I think so, but I also think the reason is that we no longer need each other. I don't believe that friendships used to be closer, but rather more out of necessity, especially in a village where not everything is as readily available as in a city.
I learned the difference between a village and a city in primary school. In the village, people would help each other more, but the disadvantage is that they are also much more curious and there is a lot of gossip and people are literally destroyed, especially if they were not born in that village or behave differently from the average person. Tolerance in a village is many times lower than in a city where people seem indifferent but may be more open-minded.
Incidentally, I also think that one of the many reasons is that we no longer dare to ask each other for help. Even if you want to offer help, you are often dismissed and told that everything is fine when you ask how things are going.
Pride in this is very difficult and also the only thing that someone living in poverty may have left. I find this very understandable. Incidentally, not everyone living in poverty is necessarily unhappy or unable to cope. A leaking roof may be a problem for you, but it does not necessarily have to be for me because there are other things that I consider more important (as long as that roof does not come down).
The cat hanging there may look lost, but it may also be that precisely because the others ignore it, it is more challenged to seek higher ground. Suppose there were no cats, would it have climbed up to see what the world looks like from a different perspective?
I think your last sentence is a very good one, but let's first make sure we are doing well ourselves before we offer others a helping hand. Help is not help if you are in dire straits yourself.

Yang anda katakan memang benar adanya akan tetapi menurutku semua itu ada plus minusnya, dikampung terkadang banyak gosip, di kampung kalau ada yang berbuat kesalahan satu orang, beberapa kampung lain pasti tahu gosip tersebut.
Tetapi rasa sosialnya masih ada, aku melihat di kota rasa perduli kurang bahkan untuk tahlilan orang meninggal harus di undang dulu barulah datang.
Aku berfikir seperti itu tetapi aku akan membantu orang terkadang dengan tenagaku atau pikiranku, karena selama ini aku sering membantu orang dengan cara seperti itu, aku menolongnya dengan penuh keikhlasan kasus pertengkaran yang sering terjadi antara suami-istri dan aku berhasil melakukannya.
