Save the trees, save the earth
The deep trauma of hearing the sound of rain falling at night, the fear of another flood.... The flash floods that wiped out almost the entire Aceh region, many people lost their lives and their possessions were beyond measure.
The trees that should have been able to withstand floods and landslides are no longer there, because they have all been plundered by greedy people, and new land has been cleared for their own enrichment. The vast expanses of oil palm plantations are unable to withstand floods and landslides.
Oil palms, which can provide the benefits of oil, are damaging the environment in a way that humans may not realize. They only care about money, while they never consider the consequences of deforestation that we are experiencing today.
We were once colonized by foreign nations, but they did not plunder the forests. Now, we are being cruelly colonized by our own people. As a result of the floods, much aid was sent from neighboring countries, but it was withheld because this was not a national flood, just an ordinary flood.
It's said that this flood is even worse than the 2004 tsunami that devastated our beloved Aceh. It's truly sad. If this weren't happening in Aceh, aid wouldn't have been able to reach the warehouses so quickly. However, because this flood is only affecting Aceh, Sumatra, and West Sumatra, it seems like they're turning a blind eye, citing pride.
If people have to die of hunger, it's best to put aside their egos and pride. To hell with pride if people have to die. Hopefully, humanitarian aid will arrive soon to help our brothers and sisters in the interior who are experiencing severe flash floods.
Save the trees before it's too late.
