Are you also someone who goes with the flow? Do you just say yes and amen because then no one will bother you?
It may well be that people find you nice and flexible and quickly call you the best horse in the stable, even though in reality you don't do a thing and cut corners. If someone comments on this, the reaction is often: they must be jealous or... there are show horses and work horses. You may be left speechless. But keep in mind that when the need is greatest, salvation is near. There is always someone who is not afraid to speak their mind and tell it like it is. Not that this person is always heard, because even those who are quick-witted often hit a brick wall and talk to chairs and benches. But... forewarned is forearmed, and even if only one simple soul sees you, you are not invisible.
Being flexible may look good on your CV, but it also means that people will quickly turn to you for these kinds of jobs, and if you say no, you will almost always lose out.
Don't be too flexible, because once you are overworked, it is difficult to put your foot down and change course.

Het kan goed zijn dat men jou dan lekker flexibel vindt en jou al snel het beste paard van stal noemt ookal doe je in werkelijkheid geen barst en loop jij de kantjes er van af. Maakt men hierover dan een opmerking dan is de reactie al snel: zeker stinkend jaloers of... je hebt show paarden en werkpaarden. Daar sta je dan wellicht met je mond vol tanden. Doch hou in gedachten dat als de nood het hoogst is, de redding nabij is. Er is altijd wel iemand die niet op zijn mondje gevallen is en zegt hoe de zaken er voor staan. Niet dat deze persoon altijd gehoord wordt, want ook wie wel gevat is loopt vaak tegen een muur op en praat tegen stoelen en banken. Maar...een gewaarschuwd mens telt voor twee en zelfs als slechts een simpele ziel jou ziet dan ben je niet onzichtbaar.
Flexibel zijn mag dan leuk staan op jouw CV maar dit betekent oog dat men zijn oog al snel op jou laat vallen als het om de dit klusjes gaat en zeg jij dan nee dan trek je vrijwel altijd aan het kortste eind.
Wees niet te flexibel, want eenmaal overspannen is het moeilijk om een halt toe te roepen en het roer nog te keren.
