How about being honest

Fortunately, I never have to ask this question or make this comment because I think that's what it is: a comment. Can't you just be honest for once?
Honesty conquers all, they say, but being honest doesn't really get you anything, and certainly not the respect of your friends. Try being honest and saying what's going on or what you've seen, for example about a relationship. Most friends won't believe you. If you keep your mouth shut, you've of course also pretended that the people concerned will find out for themselves that their partner has been unfaithful. And what about being honest when you receive a gift? Opinions on this are also divided. Some say it's the gesture that counts, but the gesture costs money and also creates an extra pile of rubbish. And rubbish is a no-no these days, because it's all bad for the environment. And with the constant nagging about the environment, generations have been brought up with this and it's starting to get so tiresome that a lot of people don't give a damn anymore, and to be honest, I'm one of them. I think I'm already very economical, I recycle a lot, I reuse a lot, I'm not a shopaholic, I tighten my belt, and that's of course also a very good reason why I can save money. Nowadays, there's another one of those ridiculous advertising messages on the radio: we're constantly being told that there's a power shortage and that we should do our laundry at a different time, and the same goes for showering. Why? Because someone else can't charge their dishwasher, tumble dryer, or electric car. Sorry, but this makes my jaw drop. I have to turn off my light bulb earlier and I can't wash the dishes or take a shower, not even once a week, because someone else has to charge their electric car every day, simply because there isn't enough power. I absolutely cannot take such a statement seriously, because it is obviously nonsense to talk everyone into buying an electric car, electric bicycle, mobile phone, new computer and so on when there is simply no electricity available. Of course, that electricity is available somewhere, but Bill Gates gets it for data centres located in our country. Electricity generated by wind turbines whose blades sometimes come loose and wear out quickly when spinning. Blades that suffer from erosion and whose pieces fall off, fly through the air and are carcinogenic. Blades that harm birds. Blades that are completely useless, and that is called green electricity, or good for the environment. How about being honest for a change? Or rather, how about using your common sense for once? You know, the brain, the ability to think that humans have and boast about as distinguishing them from animals. Perhaps in this respect, we are also suffering, not only from stupidity, but also from the 'emperor's new clothes syndrome'. Simply parroting what others say without noticing that there is no basis or logic to it. That is why honesty does not last the longest, but also why, as the Dutch saying goes: Even if the lie is quick, the truth is slow, a lie is still a lie. The truth is not being sought, simply because people do not want to know the truth. This is also a reason why the same mistakes are made over and over again and history repeats itself: humans learn nothing.

At times, I have no filter. Even though I’m an introvert, my mouth can be unstoppable, and I end up being too honest for my own good—which often backfires on me.

Once, I told a subordinate to “use her common sense” during an argument where she was clearly in the wrong. Not exactly wrong, but ignorant. She cried to my superior, and I got blasted because apparently saying “use your common sense” implies that I was calling her stupid.

I was shocked. I had always thought common sense was, well, common.

But recently I’ve learned that common sense can actually be uncommon. Not everyone has it. Take the show Shameless, for example: there’s a scene where they wash a baby’s bum after he poops using the same sponge later used for dishwashing.

That’s a perfect example of lacking the kind of basic sense most families or societies would teach. These people simply didn’t have anyone to guide them, so they missed out on what we assume is “common” sense.

Did you use any additional medium—like water, oil, or spirit—for the darker areas, or you just layered the color?

¡Congratulations!

Thank you!

Just as my dad often told me when I was young, "A lie doesn’t really get one out of trouble—it creates more problems that you might not see until it backfires." Your post hit home because I see this everywhere now. People lie about age for work, or on social media to sell a fake life. But like you said about relationships or even unwanted gifts—speak the truth and you’re not believed; stay silent and you’re complicit. We end up in that awful middle where no one wins, just like flattering an old lady in clothes that don’t fit. Her head swells with lies, and everyone plays along. Who’s fooling whom?
And the hypocrisy you mentioned—being told to save electricity so someone else can charge an electric car, all while calling it “green”—it’s just another layer of the same dishonesty. We’re dressed in the emperor’s new clothes, praising what isn’t there.
It’s exhausting. From little white lies to systemic doublespeak, it feels like we’re building a world on distrust. And you’re right:
(Even if the lie is quick, the truth is slow, a lie is still a lie. The truth is not being sought, simply because people do not want to know the truth. This is also a reason why the same mistakes are made over and over again and history repeats itself: humans learn nothing.)
Sometimes I wonder if we’ve forgotten how to want the truth at all.

It's so sad. Now you mention the internet: I never understood those fake profiles, personalities I mean if you want to meet people, real friends isn't this the ultimate place to be your nasty self? There's no one who can slam a door into your face. You can say the truth, no need to sell yourself or pretend. It there's a no or averse you simply hit 'delete' and talk to someone else.

We became so pathetic, no truth, no honour and the worst is you can't face yourself in the mirror. It feels as if the only solution is to join the cattle of sheep.

Thanks for your awesome reply!

Sometimes being honest is painful, but I always try to be honest, I don't care about what other people say... maybe like people say "I'm upset about what other people say.....oh no dear, I'm the type who goes in right out left.... 1GB memory capacity is not enough to store rubbish" just do it rather than worrying

It's painful if you expect people to say what you like to hear. Of course, it can take some time to think over what is said, but it does make someone with brains, a smart person think and do his benefit with it. If no one speaks the truth, if we all lie, the world will be mad at us as well.

1 GB is not enough and neither is 4 or 8. The main problem is the phone/computer arrives with garnish and uses most of it. Memory can be solved with a micro SD card or extern memory. More important is the working memory. If that is low your device is always frozen.

That's absolutely right my friend, honesty is very painful but even though it hurts I don't want to lie unless there is something we have to protect, for example, we can hurt someone with our honesty, that's what makes us lie

( Even if the lie is quick, the truth is slow, a lie is still a lie. )I completely agree with this phrase

if the lie is quick, the truth is slow, a lie is still a lie.

Exactly. This is the mantra we need to follow and practice.

I believe we live in a world where the narratives we're told are the 'truths' they want us to believe, which reminds me of a line from a song that says 'when the lie is the truth'—something that has become almost the norm nowadays, especially in government communications.
