A Pentomino Factor: The Feminine Divine.
I have just left the screen in the midst and heart-thumping game of Pentris, and to walk out with a score of 30 is far more impressive than you might think, on the surface of the thing. Supposing that you were used to the rhythmical comfort of old fashioned Tetris, Pentris is the transition between the calm stroll and an adrenaline rush in the form of a pathogenic course. It is savage, geometrical and pushes your space sense to the utmost.
The biggest difficulty in this game is the pieces. In the old block games, which you are to play, you have to operate with the 7 Tetrominoes. In Pentris, you are grappling with 12 different Pentominos and multifaceted, gangling shapes made of five squares.
Geometric Chaos: Figures like the X, the W and equally dreaded F model do not simply come into being. They need a rotational adjustment in their heads within the split second.
The Velocity of Space: With each piece coming larger, your board is filled 25 percent faster than in the normal games.
Gap Management: The failure of a single unit of U or N will be a jagged mountain range of gaps that are very difficult to fill.
There is also a score of 30 meaning that I was able to pass a lot of lines, because I had to pass through these clumsy giants. It turns out that I am not in the panicking stage anymore and I started seeing the grid.
Strategy and the "Flow State"
To get such score I needed to have the ability to master predictive placement. In Pentris, you can never just respond to the piece you are looking at on the screen you must take into account the Next queue and pre-plan a landing spot three moves in advance. I was also performing a 30-point run, which involved quick rotations and high degree of decision-making. I focused on keeping the state of the well in its purity, such that the puddling of these monsters of five blocks would not become overly rapid.
Every line made was a battle against the gravity. It was an exciting game and despite my highest score of 30, the pursuit of such mythical five lines clear as pentris is already calling me back.
Thamks for reading my post I'm inviting @ahmneska, @marvii and @iffatilyas to try out this game.
