Surviving the Void: Why I Can’t Stop Playing Survivor Arena

Anyway I have spent pretty much all of the past day just absolutely hooked to Survivor Arena on Cur8 Games. One of those types of roguelike shooters that you start playing and after two hours of saying "just one more round" you look up and time just disappears. Currently I am at 2 login days and I cant wait to keep increasing those login rewards, I started at 10 coins and I want to get them all the way up to 100.

The core game loop is really fun, your weapons fire automatically so it's all about movement whether on desktop (wasd keys) or on my phone (virtual stick). "Dodging the endless hordes" has to be the most frantic feeling, but I would argue it's very rewarding. In my last session which was only 3 minutes on the Void Abyss level I received 15,677 points with a grand total of 244 kills.

The leveling system in this game is really addictive, after every level- i was level 5 by the time I got my first power-up- you get to pick what you are upgrading from 3 choices in relation to your weapons. I have been trying to balance upgrades on my pistol, machine gun, and rocket launcher, it seemed vital that I upgrade my pistol a lot in the beginning but the level 3 upgrade was quite a bit better than its level 1 damage output.

The best/most stressful thing that has ever happened to me so far was encountering the Dimensional Rift into the Shadow Realm. It then gives you a choice whether to continue in your normal dimension or 'sacrifice' one weapon to increase your reward in a new dimension. All 4 of my slots were taken up (pistol, machine gun, rocket launcher, and one mini robot gunner) and I was left having to choose if I should continue on or just gamble and go in. I chose to take a chance and Im not entirely sure nightmares are better in the Shadow Realm than not!

Even though my last run ended in a level 6 Game Over I am already making plans for my next session and it is the first type of game that I have played that I could readily recommend to friends who want a quick burst of arcade shooter action mixed with strategy.
