The Ambiance of the Invasion.

I have just switched off my console after an exciting game of Space Invasion and 13 points may not seem to be a big point to some of you but to me it was a matter of life and death! The monotonous thump-thump of the attacking fleet, as it falls out of the stars, is somehow pulse-pounding. It was not merely a day of figures to-day but a challenge on the speed of my reflexes to the coldness of the alien armies, to their digital accuracy.

The moment the screen was lit up with those shining neon ranks, I experienced the pressure. The quietness of the empty space is your nemesis in Space Invasion. I swung my laser gun back and forth on the bottom of the screen, and I remained hidden behind the ruins of my defense bunkers. These shields are the sole barrier that lies between my ship and a complete devastation and I spent first few moments of the game by mere finding a safe rhythm.

Earning the 13 Points

It took me a certain concentration that I would not have thought to achieve 13 points. With this game, every shot was to be calculated since you can only normally have one projectile on the screen at a time. This implies that when you fail, you are helpless until such a laser gets to the top of the gap!

The First Wave: I started with the lowest hanging ships that were termed as the Octopus. The emptying of those first tries earned me my first portion of points and utilized more leisurely the falling of the other group.
The Near Miss: There was a time when a Squiggly object of an alien scout just barely grazed my wing, but with a flick of the finger to the left, the run was saved. The best thing about my session was that close call!

The Fun of the Grind

Although I scored 13 points in today, the fun was in the desperate defence. When the invaders are hastening with reduced speed, it is a rush of the kind. Any point that I received was a minor victory to humankind. I am already considering diving in tomorrow with another plan of a Staggered Shot to find out whether I could break the 20-point mark.

I'm inviting @curx, @solperez and @mariluna to participate.
