The Space Invasion: The Wave 13 Breakthrough.

It is an amazing feat to get to Wave 13 of Space Invasion! This is not just a high score on the Steem RetroGames system, but it is a statement of how well I can last and how fast i can twitch reflex is. I have just cleared the first full circle of the invasion, and are now in the second, more serious stage of the war.

It takes reaching Wave 13 to separate the casual players and the actual retro masters in the game. A high stakes survival battle has now occurred at this stage instead of the nostalgic fun of the initial levels.

The "Cycle 2" Difficulty Spike

In Space Invasion, there are seven cycles in the game. Once you had cleared Wave 7, the aliens will be in a reset position but this time one row below. Wave 13 is on the second cycle or at the rear of the wave. The assailants are already quite near your shields, and you have barely any time to cut through their ranks before they are up on top of you. This demands an entirely new approach: you can no longer sit back and wait until they come to you, you must be offensive on the first second.

The Sound of Adrenaline

An interesting aspect of this run is the audio. Thump, thump, thump, as you may have guessed, increases in pace with the loss of the attacking warriors. The sound of the heartbeat is a frenzied one at Wave 13 where the aliens move more rapidly in the beginning. It is meant to cause panic and you are supposed to remain calm just like you achieved those 13 waves!

Keeping Tactical Shields.

Your shield administration must have been good to this point. The majority of the players allow their green bunkers to be shredded by Wave 5. Making it to 13 has taught you to shoot a precisely-timed peek-a-boo, diving out behind a shield, shooting and cowering back before the retaliation of the alien.

You have the achievement of the Wave 20 milestone only 7 waves to go!
