Graphic of reflections on water

in CCS23 hours ago

A new underexplored graphic theme is the graphic of reflections on water taken with a long exposure. There are many different subjects to explore with water!

The interesting part is the long exposure time, which creates patterns of flickering light on the uneven surface of the water.

I discovered this by accident on one of the nighttime water shots, and I decided to focus only on the glare.

Shooting features and challenges: only at night (it is much more difficult to achieve a long exposure during the day due to the brightness of the glare, as it will be caused by the sun rather than the lights); a large depth of field is required (due to the sharp angle to the water surface, it is difficult to achieve sharpness across the entire frame).

You also need a powerful telephoto lens to make the highlights and patterns visible.

Things to pay attention to: you can try with puddles, rain, and wind (I need an excited water surface – ripples, waves, and splashes); experiment with the angle relative to the water surface and light sources.

The topic is interesting to study, you just need time and patience... and it's not about a camera...
