ST Coffee Krueng Geukuh Aceh
ST Coffee is a highly popular café or coffee shop among the local community, particularly in Krueng Geukuh (North Aceh) and the surrounding areas. I have personally heard a lot about it and have driven past it numerous times while traveling to my hometown in the Bireuen region. My family and I have also stopped by a few times to relax at this establishment. ST Coffee enjoys a highly strategic location right along the Trans-Sumatra Highway in the heart of Dewantara District, Krueng Geukuh.
The area is well-known for industrial facilities such as the Pupuk Iskandar Muda fertilizer plant and the AAF cement factory. It is situated on Jalan Banda Aceh-Medan, in Uteun Geulinggang Village, Dewantara District, Krueng Geukuh, Aceh. The café sits directly across from the PT Asean Aceh Fertilizer (PT AAF) housing complex. Its strategic position on the national highway makes it very easy for visitors to locate. Furthermore, the surrounding area is home to several other popular cafés where residents of Krueng Geukuh and the vicinity like to unwind.
When I visited this afternoon, there were few patrons, giving the place a quiet atmosphere with many empty tables. Only a handful of customers were visible, representing a diverse mix of people ranging from students to the general public. From the outside, ST Coffee appears somewhat enclosed, creating an impression of quiet seclusion. Visitors from out of town traveling the Banda Aceh-Medan route for the first time might find it a bit tricky to spot the café, especially since the signage at the entrance appears quite small when viewed from a distance.
However, upon entering the coffee shop, one immediately feels a cool and tranquil atmosphere. ST Coffee is not overly large, occupying a two-story space spanning two shophouse units. Almost all the walls are adorned with posters featuring text and illustrations related to coffee. ST Coffee offers a wide selection of beverages as well as various pastries and snacks. The snacks here are renowned throughout the Lhokseumawe area. Prices are very affordable, starting at just IDR 1,000—equivalent to 1.38 Steem. The café serves a variety of drinks, ranging from espresso and sanger espresso to green tea, hot chocolate, and Americano.
In addition to snacks and pastries, hearty meals such as Aceh noodles, fried rice, and martabak are available. The menu also features goat and chicken curries, as well as "flight attendant chicken" (ayam pramugari). All food and drink prices are accessible to people from all walks of life. This afternoon, I chose to relax at ST Coffee and ordered an espresso for IDR 10,000 (equivalent to 13.83 Steem). I stopped by the shop on my way back from my hometown to unwind and rest for a while. Behind the bar area, the cashier and barista were busy preparing customer orders.
To ensure visitor comfort, ST Coffee is equipped with various amenities. These include free, unlimited Wi-Fi for browsing the internet, wall-mounted fans, clean restrooms, and a prayer room (mushala) on the second floor. However, there is no dedicated parking area for four-wheeled vehicles; cars must park along the roadside, which can be inconvenient for visitors. In contrast, the parking area for motorcycles, while not particularly large, is quite adequate.
