Hello Steemians,

Today I’m sharing a simple but very important farming task: mitigation pruning of pitaya (dragon fruit).
By removing some leaves, we help the plant stay healthy, improve air circulation, and prepare it for the upcoming production season.

Cutting the Leaves : Preparing the Plant

Using clean and sharp scissors, I carefully cut selected pitaya leaves. This step helps reduce excess growth, prevents disease, and allows the plant to focus its energy on flowering and fruit production.

Unexpected Visitors : Domo & Dometta

While I was working, my two Siamese cats, Domo and Dometta, came to visit. They stayed close, watching every movement, curious about the garden work and enjoying the fresh air.

Collecting the Cut Leaves

After finishing the pruning, I gathered all the removed leaves. This clean-up step keeps the area tidy and helps prevent pests and diseases around the plant.

Why Pruning Matters

Mitigation pruning is essential for:

  • Better air circulation
  • Healthier growth
  • Disease prevention
  • Stronger flowering and fruiting

Small actions like this make a big difference over the season.

Final Thoughts

Taking care of pitaya is about balance knowing what to remove and what to keep. With proper pruning and regular care, the dragon fruit plant will be ready to give its best when the production season arrives.
