SLC-S29/W1-“Thinking and Ideas!| If You Were in Charge!”
Hello everyone!

Today I am here to participate in the challenge of thinking and ideas organized by @ninapenda. If you want to join then:
Leadership is known as the power. But in reality it is the responsibility and it has it's own pressure. If I were given a full authority for a year I would focus on one issue. The impact of this issue silently influence many other people.
1. The first issue I would address
So if were given a full authority opportunity for one year in my country first of all I would solve the gap between the education and real life skills to survive in this world.
In my opinion nowadays education only gives certificates. It is not giving skills and confidence. Many young people spend years in study and passing the exams. But when they step into real life they feel that they lost in the real world. They work hard to earn and to think independently. They struggle to adapt the dynamic circumstances.
This is not just the failure of the students. It is a failure of the whole system. An education system must prepare people to:
- Solve problems
- Communicate ideas
- Earn with dignity
- Think critically rather than blindly follow
If the foundation of education is weak then everything built on it will also be unstable.
2. Why I chose this issue over others
I chose this issue because the most major problems we talk about are unemployment, poverty, crime, corruption, and unrest social life. These all are not the isolated issues. They are the results of the poor education system without practical work.
When people have less skills:
- Jobs become scarce even when the opportunities exist
- Frustration also increases which leads to crime
- People are often recruited on favors instead of the ability
- Talent is wasted and the hope slowly dies
The temporary solutions like the financial aid and short term projects reduce the pain for a while. But they do not change the direction. On the other hand education works quietly and slowly. But it impacts the last generations.

I would choose this issue because a skilled person and skillfully mind can rebuild anything. But the amount of resources cannot help a society who does not know how to use them.
3. One difficult decision I would have to make
The most difficult decision I would have to make is to restructure the existing education system. Whether it means disturbing the comfort, tradition and the powerful interests.
This difficult question will include the following elements:
- Reducing excessive focus on the rote memorization
- Evaluation of the institutions based on the real outcomes but not on the reputation
- Redirecting funding from the ineffective and inactive programs to the skill-based learning system
- Making vocational and technical education socially respected
This decision will face resistance and criticism. The reason is the people fear the change especially when their livelihood or status is connected to the old system. It includes eople of all kinds such as teachers, administrators as well as the parents. They may oppose the change because uncertainty feels more dangerous than a known problem or a failure.
This decision will surely require courage. Because it will not bring applause. It will bring criticism.
4. How I would explain this decision to people who disagree
TO all the people who will disagree I will not argue with them emotionally. I will also not dismiss their concerns. But I will explain them everything honestly and the consequences of the decision for the upcoming generation.
I will say them:
“This decision is not an attack on your efforts or your past. It is a response to the future our children will face.”
I will explain that:
- The world is changing faster than our classrooms
- Degrees without skills are becoming empty promises
- Protecting outdated systems only protects failure
I would also assure them that reform does not mean rejection. Their experience would be needed to shape better systems, mentor students, and guide transitions.
Most importantly, I would remind them:
“If we continue doing what is comfortable today, we will face what is unbearable tomorrow.”
Conclusion
Leadership is not about choosing the easiest path. It is about choosing the most meaningful one even if no one is supporting you and you are the only one.
If I were in charge for one year I would not aim to leave monuments or slogans. I would aim to change direction. Because even after this I leave but the journey continues forward.
I would like to invite @shahid76, @memamun, @ruthjoe to join this contest.
🎉 Congratulations!

Hi @mohammadfaisal, welcome to thinking and ideas week 1
Sincerely, the education sector needs attention and if not treated early, would cause a bigger problem. I have seen people suffer so much due to lack of education and good educational environment.
Restructuring from the scratch would be the best, that way you have a new standard, a new regulation to work with.
