Dreams that touch the sky and balconies that touch the green

​Our surroundings are becoming like a jungle of bricks and wood day by day. Big buildings, concrete roofs—it is difficult to see a little bit of open sky or a touch of greenery in between. In this rat race life, I have only one place of peace—our roof and balcony.
​The balcony is not just a place for me, it is like a small world. Here, in the tubs planted by my hands, there are many types of trees. There are also flower trees, fruit trees, and some vegetables. When I wake up in the morning, I look at the trees on the balcony. When the sunlight comes through the leaves, that scene gives peace to my mind. I really like sitting on the balcony at night and watching them. It seems like how many big dreams are hidden in this small life.

​And our roof! The roof is like an even bigger canvas. The sky above, our small city below. I look around and see—someone's clothes are drying on the roof, somewhere children are playing. There is a big coconut tree in one corner of the roof, whose leaves sway in the wind. I spend a lot of time looking at that tree. It seems that no matter how small we are, the sky above our heads is equally big for everyone.
​This balcony and roof are a refuge for me.

When I feel sad or the pressure of studying increases, I come here. I take care of the trees, talk to them—it seems like they understand everything. My small dreams seem to spread their branches among this greenery. I dream of doing something big one day, but before that, I want to hold on to this place of peace.

​This green world of mine teaches me—growing up does not only mean building buildings, but with a little love and care, a paradise can be created even in a small place. This veranda is my own world, where sky-touching dreams and the comfortable touch of greenery are always there.
