Boxelder bug|Bangladesh
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Everyone
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah EveryoneHello CCS colleagues,
I hope you are all well. God has kept me well and healthy by His grace.
I am here today to participate in this Eco Lens Map contest as I always do.
Today I am here to show you a photography of a boxelder bug.
Boxelder bug
Boisea trivittata, also known as the eastern boxelder bug, or maple bug, is a true insect species native to eastern North America.
Spiders are small predators, but due to the chemical defenses of the boxelder bug, very few birds or other animals will eat them. The boxelder bug population is not affected by any major diseases or parasites.
Relationship to agriculture and gardening
Although they specialize in eating seeds from maples, boxelders, and ash, they may pierce other parts of the plant while feeding, but only accidentally.
They are known to damage some fruits in the fall when they leave their summer habitat and seek a place to overwinter. The insect's feeding causes dimples, spots, fruit distortion, corky tissue, and even premature fruit drop on strawberries and some fruit trees. However, they are not major agricultural pests.
Adults are about 13 millimetres (0.51 in) long, dark brown or black, with red wing veins and spots on the abdomen, and dark red eyes; nymphs are bright red.
Eastern boxelder bugs feed almost exclusively on the developing seeds of boxelder, maple, and ash trees.
Eastern boxelder bugs feed on boxelder trees, laying eggs, and developing on them, which are usually found on female trees because they produce seeds. Eastern boxelder bugs prefer seeds; however, they also suck the leaves. They are often seen on maples because these trees also provide their seeds. Eastern boxelder bugs overwinter in plant debris or protected human-occupied areas and other suitable structures.

I have a great experience photographing this insect. These photographs were taken from my father's home area. We have a garden where my mother went to work and I took these photographs with my baby in her arms. The baby was very playful in her arms. And I took my photographs with difficulty and care. Most of the photographs were blurry. In the midst of that, I got several photographs as requested. This insect was walking around with a small seed. It was very strange to see. All of these insects I saw had seeds of this wild fruit in their mouths. It was very nice to see them playing around on these seeds. I was also very happy to get some photographs of their beautiful moment in the middle of it.
