A Hidden Guesthouse in Nanshan, Chongqing

in CCS2 days ago

Tucked away in the hills of Nanshan Chongqing, this guesthouse feels like a quiet sanctuary where nature and design exist in perfect harmony.

The garden is exquisitely planned — every floor-to-ceiling window frames a carefully composed scene, where distant green mountains blend effortlessly with the lush, intimate planting of the courtyard. Several grand Chinese snowball viburnums are in full bloom, their clustered blossoms almost impossibly beautiful. Just inside the entrance stands a towering champaca tree, its fragrance soft yet intoxicating, lingering gently in the air.

They say the sunsets here are breathtaking, though gentle rain accompanied both of my days. And yet, the rain brought its own kind of beauty — mist drifting through the hills, wrapping everything in a dreamlike haze. It felt strikingly similar to the atmosphere of Karuizawa years ago — ethereal, serene, and quietly enchanting.

The air, cool and humid, carried a sense of calm that made it easy to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply exist within the moment.
