Oman: An Exclusive Visa-Free Destination
Recommended Sights
Mutrah Fort for Evening Views
I highly recommend ascending Mutrah Fort around sunset. Settle in with a cup of coffee and await the evening glow, as the fort offers a commanding vantage point over the city's harbour and a panoramic view of the urban landscape. It is the highest accessible point within the city, with an admission fee of 2 Rials.
Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
As a globally renowned mosque, its architectural style is distinctly Omani. Visitors are required to be fully and modestly covered to enter; it is best to prepare your attire in advance. Entry is free of charge.
Royal Opera House Muscat
This venue was not on my radar during the initial planning phase, but upon driving past, I found its nighttime illumination to be extraordinarily beautiful. If you are not particularly interested in an internal tour, you can visit around sunset, as we did, to appreciate its unique aesthetic appeal.
Nizwa Fort
Oman is famously known as the 'Land of a Thousand Forts,' so the appeal of Nizwa Fort, which stands out amongst so many ancient structures, is self-evident. I also suggest visiting in the afternoon, as the sunset light particularly enhances its beauty.
