Eden Hazard To Sign New Contract Only If Chelsea Qualifies For Champions League
According to the Times, Hazard’s future at Chelsea depends on Chelsea qualifying for the Champions League.
Hazard plans on waiting till the end of the season to see if Chelsea qualifies for the Champions League before signing a new contract at the club. The Chelsea star has not been offered a new contract since he rejected a contract extension beyond 2020 last December.
Speaking in December, his father said: “He refused a contract extension. This was so that, if necessary, he could follow the interest of Real Madrid, whom he could see himself playing for.”
The report claims Chelsea are planning on offering Hazard a new deal at the club, increasing his weekly salary from £220,000 to £300,000 to ward off any remaining interest from Real Madrid. Both Hazard and Courtois have been courted by Real Madrid in recent years with the latter having already completed the switch to Madrid earlier in the summer transfer window.
