12 hour multi-thon and rap compliment battle for people sleeping on the streets of Portland Oregon
in the tradition of old school telethons, we gather annually for the all-day Efryting Drive multithon to raise cold weather gear for our community members sleeping on the streets.
this year is definitely our most diverse year ever.
of course we are hiphop heavy with performances from
Juma Blaq , Mike Bars, Randal Wyatt, Love Ly, Louchie Vega, and Russ Gardner,
and of course we have the lovely comics Tyrone D Collins, Patrick Thomas Perkins, Zane Thomas, Amanda Lynn Deal, Will Gibbons, Pedro Miguel Andrade
and incredible singer/ songwriters like Amanda Richards, Holly Cole and Laryssa Birdseye.
BUT THIS YEAR we also have the kickass heavy metal band Skullmaster with Ryan Bartek Ron-Jay Gage and Stephen Weber
the electronic futuristic You Will Choose Fire with Lacey Wood and Kurt Submerged
and very special opening ceremonies and performance from Hueche Omeyokan, an indigenous music and dance group.
(and a live painting project from Panda Lee Stubits)
hosted by Rissa Riss and her son,
Brisket Love-Cox and her daughter,
Ashanti Hall and Marrion MC Oboy Capers
with a rumored guest appearance from Nick Wohlmut and Andrew Beaty aka Brad Habitat.
Andrew Andy Stack Carlson Christina Sowersby
on the 1s and 2s.
then at ten pm we get serious with the Friendly Fire -compliment battle hosted by Patrick Lorenz.
with special guest judges
Courtenay Collins
Sam Lingle
Ibeth Hernandez
David Ready Jefferson
Shrista Tyree Little
Das Leune
Kalyn Benson
Gregory Robert McKelvey
then we wake up the next morning and open the Lodge back up from 10am-2pm so that our friends and organizations who do direct street outreach can come fill up their stashes under the agreement that they will get it out to the streets in a timely fashion. we usually raise more gear than one organization has the infrastructure for so we look forward to spreading it around.
the wonderful Josh Makosky will be hosting a community jam session and open mic with his band Love Sloth.
all jammers AND rappers are welcome to participate.
it's a free event but don't forget to tip your wonderful bartender Karla Oviatt Pixler.
and it's all ages until 8pm but not specifically geared to young ears. but we love the little children and so we probably won't ruin them.
