Is MaidSafe Ever Going to Get Off The Ground?

I've been a proud supporter of Maidsafe from the moment I heard about it. A decentralised uncensored internet? What an awesome and truly noble idea.

I invested heavily and haven't looked back since.

However, recently I've been feeling very disheartened. My understanding was that Maidsafe was supposed to be launched in public beta mode (just like steemit) at the end of 2015 but has instead experienced delay after delay after delay.

Now I'm not an impatient person, I understand that it takes time to build such a complex application and its very important to ensure that you get the technical nuisances right . After all, we don't want to experience some of the technical problems that the Ethereum blockchain has been experiencing recently.

However, this project has been ongoing for over 10 years and now and we still don't seem to be closer to a solution. In addition to this, one of the project's key developers has gone on a sabbatical at a time when they are needed the most. This is an extremely critical time for the project so I'm surprised that they have allowed this to happen and I even saw an advertisement on their twitter account for a stack developer, which is another bad sign as it shows that they are lacking a strong development team which is what one needs to complete such a technically complex project.

I like the guys working on MaidSafe. I believe that they are genuinely interested in changing the world for the better, and through Maidsafe I truly believe that they can do this. However, I just can't help wondering whether or not this is a dream that may never be realised....
